Dual Input Charger Solution for Boat Battery with Alternator and Solar Panel
Published 01/05/2023 >
Question:
I have a marine/RV application. I have purchased 2 ecoflow delta pro batteries, 1 primary, and 1 slave. I am wanting to charge with 2 separate methods if possible. ecoflow has approx 5 methods of charging with the ability to use 3 simultaneously. one method i want to explore is using my alternator to charge, as this is on my boat i have 2 diesel engines, but want to find out if i can use one to make my solution work. currently there is support for chatging 12v with a cigarette plug interface into the Delta pro, this would take forever. i would like to take the DC power from altenator and either convert to AC or leave DC, then get power into a solar charge controller or similar that i can regulate the power and distribute back to Delta pro batteries through a MMT connection. the MMT input on battery is rated for 15 amp 11-150Volts at a max of 1600watts. i felt if possible something that was 15amps and 100 volts would work great. Is there such a way to get the power from the altenator to a controller that will provide MMT power connection @ 1600 watts or less? Thank you for your assistance

Why not use something like the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D? This was designed to take two charging input sources like an alternator and a solar panel and charge a battery in the most optimized way. There would be no need to reduce the power to use any type of adapters beyond this and this is also compatible with all battery styles including what you have.
