Question:

Hello, If my vehicle has Rhino Rack Aero bars, and I use this ladder mounting kit, is it safe to mount a 14ft long ladder that weighs approximately 50 pounds to the vehicle, given that I secure the load using the provided straps? Thanks Vehicle: 2006 Volvo XC70 with Rhino Rack Aero crossbars

Yes, a 50-pound 14-ft ladder will be able to be transported on your 2006 Volvo XC70. I did some research on your vehicle and discovered that the total length is 15.5 feet. With this length, there will not be any overhang if the ladder is centered on the crossbars. However, it is important to make sure that you have an unobstructed view while driving. I also recommend consulting with local law enforcement to make sure you are staying within local traffic laws.

If you need a complete Rhino-Rack aero crossbar system on your 2006 Volvo XC70 with raised factory rails, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - 49" Long # RRVA126B-2 and the Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRSX100. With this system, I recommend the Ladder Mounting Kit for Rhino-Rack Aero # SEGLK2B. The ladder mounting kit will work with your ladder as long as the non-extended stacked height of your ladder is equal to or less than 7 inches high. As far as the cam-lock securing strap that comes with the mount, it will be enough to deter your ladder to not tip or fall during transport.
