Will Curt Hitch for 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Allow Bike Rack Clearance
Question:
Im considering the Curtis hitch for my 2021 Rav 4 prime. Im concerned about having enough ground clearance for a bike rack. I will be traveling to a campground with a steep hill. Will this be a problem? I also want to be sure that there is no need to trim the bumper for installation. Thank you

When we installed the Curt hitch part # C13416 on a 2021 Toyota RAV4 like yours we found that from the top of the hitch down to the ground measured 12 inches which is a pretty standard height and would not give you issues with bike rack clearance. Also the distance from the rear wheel of your vehicle to the hitch opening is pretty close so any elevation changes wouldn't dip a bike rack down too low. The bumper does not get trimmed.
When it comes to tight ground clearance for a hitch bike rack I would go with a platform bike rack. If for nothing else if you were to drag something it would be the bottom of the rack and not a bike wheel.
The Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F has great ground clearance due to the rise it has built into the shank. I attached a review video that shows it installed on a similar Subaru's hitch as well.
