Will the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains Scratch my Rims/Wheels During Use
Question:
Hello, I have a 2020 Tesla Model Y with 255/40R20 tires. The factory wheels are painted black and I am concerned with scratching them with tire chains. These chains state confirmed fit, and they have Rim Protection, yet I am still concerned about them scratching the black wheels. If these are installed correctly, is there any assurance they wont scratch the wheels? T

Helpful Expert Reply:
While there is no assurance that there will be no damage to the wheels when using the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains part # TH2004205117 I can tell you that when installed and adjusted properly I have not seen any issues with this. These are as you said a confirmed fit for your 2020 Tesla Model Y with the 255/40R20 tires.
On the other hand if the chains are not properly installed or adjusted they could move around enough to cause you issues. If you ensure you have them properly installed and check them to ensure this periodically you will be happy with these.
