Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for FW Flagstaff # 85258IKWS Compatible with Reese Revolution Pin Bux

Question:

I am looking for FW Flagstaff 8528IKWS 2012 or 2013 with pin box Reese Revolution this winter. I have F-150 2011 Supercrew, Short Bed 5.6, Ecoboost, 3:73, LT tire. What other kind and model of hitch are compatible beside Reese Select Plus, # RP30081 with Reese revolution, Curt, Husky or Pull Rite? What is the best and why ? Thanks

The Reese Revolution is the OEM version of their aftermarket Sidewinder.

Lets begin with the Curt Q20 fifth wheel hitch, part # C16130. Curt makes a great hitch, and I really like the spherical axial bearing they use to allow full 360 degree tilting movement. The double jaw used in the hitch grabs the fifth wheel king pin from all sides, reducing rattle and chucking. The built-in cushioning further reduces how the rattling, clatter and chucking is transferred to the vehicle. However, it is this cushioning that makes the Curt Q series fifth wheel hitches incompatible with rotating pin boxes like the Revolution/Sidewinder.

The Husky Silver Series, available in a 16K model as # HT31326-31314 and a 26K model as # HT31318-31325 is a good product. The one-piece wrap around jaw firmly holds the king pin, preventing movement. The head of the hitch pivots in four directions, allowing for easy hitching on uneven pavement.

Pullrite uses a unique gear driven jaw mechanism that tightly grips the king pin to prevent movement. The head also pivots in four directions, allowing easy hitching. We do not carry the Pullrite hitch at this time, unfortunately I have no hands-on experience with this hitch. From everything I hear and have read, their products are highly rated by their customers.

The interchangeable wedges would allow either the Pullrite or the Husky hitches to be used with the Reese Revolution. The # SWW-09 is compatible with the Pullrite, and the # SWW-04 is compatible with Husky Fifth Wheel Hitches.

Of the three hitches you mentioned that are compatible with the Revolution, I would lean toward the Reese Select Plus. Because the pin box and the hitch are both built by the same manufacturer, you can be assured that the two products have been rigorously tested so that they work perfectly together. We carry the Reese brand hitches, so I am most familiar with them and can confidently recommend them to my customers.

If you don't already have a 7-way trailer connector installed in your truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157. You can see an install video by clicking the provided link.
