How To Install the Thomas Payne Jackknife Sofa

Question:

i want to install the sofa in the slide out. I need to know what height you recommend for the base as well as the type of bracket and type and length of mounting screws I should use.

When using the Thomas Payne RV Jackknife Sofa # 195-000016 I recommend using the Universal Leg Kit for Thomas Payne Jackknife Sofas # 195-000017 since it cannot be mounted to a wall. The Jackknife sofa comes with a 11-1/4" tall kickboard and the Universal Leg Kit legs are 11-1/2" tall. With these considerations, the base would need to at least be 11-1/4" tall because of the kickboard height.

The Universal legs are the best solution for a base for this particular sofa. The legs are approximately 1" thick, so you would need to use a self tapping screw at least 1-1/2" long to mount the legs to the floor of your RV (this will vary depending on how thick your floor is). The Universal Leg Kit comes with all of the hardware needed to mount the legs on the Jackknife sofa, but you will need to source your own screws to install the legs on the slide-out.
