The easiest way to tell whether or not a wheel is hub piloted or lug piloted would be to look at the bolt holes. If they are flush like part # LT589DMPSX then you know the wheel is hub piloted but if they are beveled like part # LHCR415 then you know the wheel is lug piloted. The hub piloted wheels also often use wheel bolts like part # 7-23 whereas lug piloted wheels often use lug studs like part # 165995 but that is not always the case.
The lug piloted wheel will center itself on the hub via the matching wheel and lug nut bevels whereas the hub piloted wheel will center itself on the hub via the hub bore. Most trailer wheels are lug piloted.
