Troubleshooting 3 Wire Strobe Light Function

Question:

Im replacing a standard three wire 4 inch light that is using only the white as ground and red for power. But when I installed the strobe and wired it the same the light will only come on when I unroll the electric tarp but when I go to close tarp it want light up.

On the Custer 4-LED Strobe Light or Running Light - 3-Wire Pigtail - Red # STRL4R the black wire is the constant light power, the red wire is the strobe and the white wire is ground. It sounds like you either lose your ground or your constant power when your tarp is closed. I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test your wire functions in the closed position. It sounds like you are losing power and you will need to test that wire every few feet to determine where the short is if it isn't a ground issue.
