For your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 short bed I recommend a custom install fifth wheel rail kit like the part # RP56001-53 as this will be the easiest to install and will minimize drilling on your truck. You would end up spending over twice the time installing a universal kit compared to this one so I would recommend it highly. The frame brackets mount on the outside of the frame which allows the kit to install easier too.

These rails will work perfectly with the Curt A20 part # C16541. This hitch uses a dual jaw to secure the king pin which wraps around it tightly. Another advantage is the slider base will give you 12" of travel.
