Reese Class 3 Hitch for 2001 to 2004 Ford Escape fitment on 2005 Escape
Question:
I just boutght a reese hitch at Walmart for a Ford Escape. When I got the box home and read the instructions it only fits a 2001-2004 Ford Escape. Before I attempt to install, is this hitch compatible with the 05? The Product Number is 37042 Classe 3 hitch.

No, the class 3 Reese hitch, product # 37042, will not work on a 2005 Ford Escape as the Escape model was changed for the 2005 model. If you have a 2005 or newer Ford Escape the Reese hitch that you bought will not work.
I looked on our website and found a hitch that will work for your vehicle. I would recommend the Hidden Hitch Class 3 Round Tube Receiver Hitch, part # 87585. I recommend this hitch because it has a 2 inch receiver and is a Class 3 hitch. I have a link to the part below.
Also, there is a video of an install on a 2010 Ford Escape on our website that is a similar to the install on your 2005 Ford Escape. The install is not the same but you can use the video for reference, the link is below.
