Recommended Rearview Camera System for 2010 Toyota Highlander Towing 16 Foot Airstream Camper

Products Featured in This Question

Question:

Im towing a 16foot Airstream with my 2010 Toyota Highlander. That works great but I have zero vision behind the trailer. Extension mirrors are not the answer. I want to put a video camera in the rear window of the trailer, linked to a small video monitor placed on the dash of the Highlander next to my GPS. It seems that ought to be easily done these days. I havent seen such a package offered, but I hope you guys have just the right solution. Thanks for the help

Due to the metal construction of your Airstream, I wouldn't suggest a wireless camera system as the metal skin on your camper would almost certainly cause interference with the wireless system.

I'd recommend using the K-Source Vision system, part #KSVS55020. Rather than a separate monitor, this system replaces your existing rear view mirror with a small video screen integrated into it. The system is normally installed so it powers up when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, but if you want the camera continually on you could wire it into the headlight circuit so the camera and monitor power up when the headlights or running lamps are switched on.

You'll also need a fuse tap # F2526.
