2015 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L Programmer and Cold Air Intake Recommendation
Question:
Hello, I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0L that I would like to get a little better performance out of, especially when towing a trailer, approximately 10K lbs. What would be the best performance upgrades to accomplish this? Programmer? Exhaust? Cold air? Do these upgrades void or affect my factory warranty? I took a trip last summer and the towing was not as good as I had expected. It seems that the shift points from the factory are really screwed up. Does a programmer allow this to be adjusted and to what extent? Any recommendations. I love my truck otherwise. Its a beautiful and comfortable truck. I would just like a little better performance. Thanks for your help!

A programmer like the part # EP85150 is going to give you a nice increase in horsepower and torque which will help you quite a bit for towing. This programmer will give you up to 21 horsepower and 30 foot lbs of torque. The torque is what will really help you with the shift points as the vehicle won't seem to be constantly downshifting. This allows you to increase line pressure in the transmission which will firm up the shift points as well as set the transmission up to shift better for towing applications which will help prevent constant shifting.
A cold air intake system like the Airaid part # AR200-280 would then be another way to boost horsepower and torque. You would end up with around another 10 to 15 horsepower and torque with this.
What's great about both of these is that they will also help with fuel mileage and would not void any warranties either. If you are taking your vehicle in for warranty work we still recommend putting everything back to stock just to avoid the headache of dealing with a difficult dealer.
