Fifth Wheel Hitch and Installation Kit Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 ft Bed

Question:

I have a 2008 Toyota Tundra crew-cab with a 5-1/2 bed, I am looking for a 5th wheel hitch to fir it, and the parts that I am looking at is RP56007 to fit a Reese R20 5th wheel witch, what part number for the rails for the RP56007 , or would the Reese # RP56006-53 and the RP50081-53 be a better choice, and what type king pin would I need for the 5th wheel, I dont have one yet, but getting things lined up to get one, but the hitch is the first thing I will be getting first. I hope you can help me out.

The Reese # RP30047 would be an excellent choice for you. This is one of the nicest hitches on the market. Because of its jaws that make 360 degree contact with the king pin and the fact that it has heavy-duty vibration dampeners to minimize rattle and noise.

Now for a custom rail kit that will install in the bed of your 2008 Toyota Tundra in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling I would recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Rail Kit part # RP50084-58.

The other rail kits you referenced are not designed for Toyota trucks so I would not recommend them for you.

Now the next very important piece to your fifth wheel towing puzzle is the Sidewinder. You need to find out what the pin box brand and model is of the trailer you have or are looking at and then you will need to check the Sidewinder FAQ article I attached that has a chart at the bottom that will tell you what Sidewinder you would need.

I also attached a couple other helpful articles that you might be interested in.
