To add a 7-Way trailer connector to a 1997 Ford F-350 that already has a factory 4-Way, you will need to use part # 37185. A simple plug in connector is not available. However, installation of 37185 may not require as much work as you might think.

You will want to take a look at the wiring harness on the truck and follow it forward to where it meets another connector. At this connector, pull back the covering on the end closest towards the front of the truck to reveal additional wires. Snip the blue and orange Ford wires next to the plug coming from the front of the truck. Connect blue from truck to blue on 37185. Then connect orange on truck to black on 37185. It would probably be a good idea to use a circuit tester like # 3808 to test the additional wires for function prior to making the connections.

The white wire on 37185 will ground to the frame. The purple wire will tap into a reverse light wire. I have included a picture and a link to an FAQ article that should help.
