Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Touareg, well be test fitting the Thule Crossroads Aero Blade Roof Rack System, part numbers THARB53 and TH450R. Now our vehicle is equipped with factory raised side rails, so to begin our test fit, well place the front crossbar onto the vehicles side rails. Well then measure from a fixed point on the side rail on both the passenger and drivers side of the vehicle to make sure that the crossbar is perpendicular to the vehicle. Once we have established this position, we can remove the end caps of the feet and bring the rubber coated steel straps around the underside of the crossbar and hook them into position. We will then want to make sure that, the overhang of the Aero Blade is equal on both sides of the feet. After doing so, we can use the included tensioning tool to tighten down the feet to secure the crossbar to the vehicles raised side rails.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Touareg we'll be test fitting the Thule Force L Rooftop Cargo Box Aeroskin black in color with 13 cubic feet of space, part number th624. To begin our test fit we'll simply place the cargo box on to the vehicles crossbars. It may be easier to loosen up the claws of the cargo box before placing it on to the vehicle. We'll then use the key to open one side of the cargo box to expose the two closest knobs. We'll turn the knobs to tighten down the claws to secure one side of the box to the vehicles crossbars. We'll then close the lid and open up the other side of the cargo box repeating the same steps.

All right. Today on our 2011 Volkswagen Touareg, we're going to do a test of the part number TH916XTR from Thule, the Thule T2 Platform-Style Bike Rack. One quick note about is it's designed for 2" receiver hitches only. Alright, today on a 2011 Volkswagen Touareg, we're going to do a test fit of the Thule Roof Rack System using the Crossroads Foot Packs and AeroBlade bars. We're going to take the front crossbar and place it onto the vehicle. You want to check your owner's manual, check the weight limitation and the proper spacing for the measurement for your crossbars. We'll start by squaring them up with a non-point on the roof rack and then we'll move from there to the leading edge of the foot pack, then we'll go ahead and tighten it down. The foot pack comes with a tool to tighten them down and when you're down, it will store inside the foot pack. Put the front bar tightened down, we'll get and install the rear bar.

Well be also using part number 118151 from Tow Ready, we will use that for our power wire to go to our power supply up in the front of the vehicle. Now were starting off the install with the vehicle partially disassembled already, we just got done installing a hitch and its a good time to do this wiring while the vehicle is partly disassembled. This is our module right here and we will do most our connection points on the drivers side. Go ahead and remove the bumper cover, to make it easier to see whats going on. We will attach our module here and we will extend these 2 wires to go up behind a tail light, we will make our connections behind the tail light and to the wire harness. The yellow wire here is going to be ran up to the drivers side tail light.

Next we will go ahead and give you some measurements to help you out when choosing some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is going to be 17 inches and from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outside edge of your bumper is going to be 1-1/2 inches. Now we will go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing we need to do is remove the bumper cover and there is a variety of fasteners to do that with. We will start off with the fasteners on the bottom, there will be 1,2,3,4 fasteners. Like that.

We will take our first one and go ahead and set it on the roof rack towards the front. Now to keep our bar square on the vehicle we will measure from a known point on the roof rack, and then well measure out to the leading edge on the foot pack. Okay now that we know the roof rack is square, go ahead and make sure it is correct left and right.

One quick note about this bicycle rack, it is designed for 2 receiver hitches only. We will go ahead and start off by installing the bicycle rack into the hitch. We will install the locking pin and tighten down everything with the anti-rattle device. Alright now we will give you a couple of measurements to give you an idea between the bicycle rack and the vehicle, and the ground. Today we are going to install part number 13220 from Curt. We are going to install this hitch on a 2007 Volkswagen Touareg. The first step involved is actually removing the tail lights. There are two screws on each side of the tail light. We will undo those and then take off the tail lights. We have got the light unbolted, and then we will go ahead and just disconnect it from the vehicle for now and put it in a safe spot. And then go ahead and repeat it for the other side. All right, the next thing we need to do is go ahead and take off the bumper cover. That is going to be from here on down. We will start behind the tail light and then work our way behind the fender well and go on from there. And then go ahead and do the same thing on the other tail light.
