Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles

Today we're going to be taking a look at a brake mounting flange for a 1 3/4 inch round trailer axle. This brake mounting flange gets welded to the end of the axle to provide a secure mounting place for a brake assembly. It does work with seven inch brake assemblies. Again it's designed for 1 3/4 inch round axles, or 2,000 pound axle, or typical 2,000 pound axle. The center hole is going to give us a diameter of 1.64 inches. The hole spacing, the distance that we have center on center between each of those holes is going to be the same at 2 7/8 of an inch, center on center.

Overall measurement is a square design. It's going to measure 3 3/4 of an inch by 3 3/4. As you can see, it's a four molt hole design. That's going to do it for today's look at the brake mounting flange for a 1 3/4 inch round trailer axles.

I have a 2004 Honda trike that I built a pull behind trailor for! After pulling it loaded it was hard to stop safely! This brake assembly along with the Redarc brake controller done the JOB! now it stops safely

I had to replace the old hydraulic disc brakes on my Tryton 20' snowmobile trailer and need to add new mounting plates for the new electric drum brakes. These worked great. Cut the old mounts off the spindle and welded these on. A whole lot easier than making from scratch!!!

  • Replacement 7 inch Brake Assembly for Fiat Elnagh 320 Motorhome
Buongiorno! We do carry Replacement Magnet Kit for 7" Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies - 2,000 lbs Item # AKBRKR-M7. However, it looks like the center mounting hole on yours is round, whereas ours uses a square/rectangular hole. It doesn't appear that the hole on the # AKBRKR-M7 is large enough to allow the arm (on the brake assembly) to fit through. If you scroll to about the 5:40 min mark on the Redline Replacement Magnet Kit video Iinked below, you'll see the arm I'm referring to...

  • Do You Have a Brake Flange for a 1.25" Diameter Axle?
Hey Ed. The smallest brake mounting flange we carry is for a 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles. It is item # 4-34 and is rated for a 2,000 lbs axle. It has a 4-bolt mounting flange and a 1.64" inner diameter of the center hole. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Brake Controller For 2018 VW Tiguan With Factory 4-Flat & Brakes For Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle
We can get you set up to tow your jet ski trailer and add electric brakes, but let's go ahead and start with the brake controller for your 2018 VW Tiguan. Since the vehicle already has a factory 4-flat, you would just need to add the 7-way and wiring along with the controller. You are on point with the wiring of your VW being finicky - that's a really good way to put it. The issue is that the brake light wire on a Tiguan is often inaccessible, or can be in different locations, if it can...

  • Where on the Axle Do I Install a Brake Mounting Flange?
Hey Ed. There's no exact measurements. You'll need to mock your axle and brakes up to find the right location for mounting the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles item # 4-34. Do you already have your brake assemblies and hubs?

  • Recommended 2,000 Lb Trailer Axle with Brakes for Small Trailer
The best option we could provide you with is the Trailer Idler Axle Beam part # e48GR which measures 60" long and has a 2,000 lb weight capacity. It's not setup for brakes so in order to equip them you'd need to have a brake mounting flange welded on, the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles part # 4-34. This will then allow you to add brakes like the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-2 and hubs/drums like the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 2K Axles...

  • Adding Electric Brakes To 2,200lb Dexter Torsion Axles
It is possible to weld on a brake flange such as Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles - 2K # 4-34 for 1-3/4" round axles, but it takes a qualified welder and even then it can be difficult to accomplish. A better solution is to upgrade your current axles with something like Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - Spindle w/Brake Flange - Regular Tires - 2,200 lbs # ASR1THDS01, or if you need lift spindles you can go with Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System -...

  • Parts Needed to add Electric Trailer Brakes to 1990 Skamper 190c
You are able to install an electric braking system on your trailer. The parts needed are going to be determined by the axle that your camper is equipped with. From what I can tell from your picture, it looks like this is a 4 lug axle which is going to likely mean you have a 2,000-lb axle with a 1-3/4" diameter. In order to verify that is correct you will need to confirm that the Inner and Outer bearings on your trailer wheel hubs match L44649. You can verify this once you've taken it apart...

Additionally, if you want to tell me what size bearings you currently have and the lug nut pattern of your hub, I can find you the correct brake hubs and brake assemblies. This junction box puts all your wiring in a secure location. • Can a Hayes 10 x 1 5/8" Braking Assembly W/ No Mounting Flange Be Converted to a Standard Flange
So the short answer is no, there is nothing you can do to your current mounting plate to make another braking assembly fit your current setup. What you have is pretty unique, and when the team and myself took a look at it we were all in agreement that the best step forward is to cut of your current flange and weld on a new one. Now this is a pretty intensive project and is going to require a special jig that is designed specifically for this, so this isn't something you're going to be...

  • Can Brakes be Added to 2,000 lb Axle without Brake Flanges
I would check first to see if you do have brake flanges before going forward buying parts because if you do that would make it pretty easy. Otherwise you could look into having flanges welded on as that's an option too. We have them with part # 4-34. You'll need to find a welder with the correct jigs for this job. If you can get me the brand, capacity, and axle style of what you have I can see if we have a lift for it. We have the parts needed to add brakes to a 2,000 lb axle as well....

You will want to get the Brake Mounting Flange, # 4-34, to weld onto each side of each axle. With that flange in place, you will want to mount the 7 inch Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-2L on the left side of the axle and the # AKEBRK-2R on the right side of the axle. These are nearly identical parts, but installing on the correct side is very important....

A 2,000 lb trailer axle like the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam part # T20BTR-7258 is not going to come equipped from the manufacturer with a brake mounting flange because of the weight of the trailer it is designed to be used on.
