Now we have to get the bolts inside of the frame. What we will do is we use the fish wire here. Put it through this hole, put it out the big hole, and then pull our hardware from the outside in and then back out this way.
It kind of helps to slide it up on the wire first, and this threads in. And it comes out just like that. This hitch uses this hole too. What well do is slide your plate on, then your bolt, pop it through the hole, put the plate in, and pull it back on through. Then do it on the other side too.

Oh boy! Wish I had owned these things years ago. Its a thin springy wire that threads onto your bolt just like a nut, but you can fish the wire up through a hole and along the frame to where its easy to pull out and attach to the bolt. These were about 18 inches long, plenty for my use. Easy to save for reuse as well. I am keeping mine in the tool box now.80534

I was able to install the Curt trailer hitch on my 2013 Subaru Forester, by myself. Working in my garage, with the aid of two ramps and the 1/2" bolt leaders, the installation went smoothly. I do wish that I had had a 6" extension for my torque wrench, although I was able to torque the flange nuts without the extension.66943

It works, I wish it had been a bit longer. Made feeding the bolt easy but I think string fed by a coat hanger could have done the same thing. Unscrewing from the bolt was difficult for some reason. I don't know if it was just me struggling in the hot sun that day but I basically had to yank the thing off the bolts, which stretched it beyond use after the second one. It served it's purpose and it's already in the trash.47917

Hi, The hitch went in just as described in video and instructions. It looks great and when not in use - truly is a hidden hitch. I'm not sure how some have installed this in 1/2 - 1 hour (it took about 2.5 for me). I have all the tools and air wrenches but still this long. I would certainly recommend etrailer and this product. 47368

These little inexpensive items are the real key for making the installation of a trailer hitch a simple process. Be advised that the trailer hitch hardware kit DOES come with more than one of these. At least mine did. The website did not state how many anywhere that I could see so I ended up purchasing 3 extras that I really didn't need. I would recommend calling to check how many your kit would come with if you have any questions about that at all. But they are almost a necessity for a quick and easy install.36857

Whoever came up with this is a genius. Made installation of the hardware in my van's frame a breeze. Two words of advice - First, I found it helpful to bend a catch on the straight end so that it would hook on the frame opening and not pull up inside the frame when I was putting the bolt on it. Second, spend the extra couple bucks and get one for each of the bolts you will be installing. You CAN get away with using one for all of them (I did), but it gets a bit beat up in use and having a fresh one would have made my life easier.34457

I have used these before and they are an invaluable tool for installing a hitch. Unless your fingers are 12 inches long, use one of these for each bolt to thread into the frame. After installation put them away for your next installation on your new car. Best Regards, Tim 31008

Excellent - see my review To make it easier on my Saturn I had to feed the spring end(bolt puller)from the bottom through the hole in the bumper and the square hole plate. Then screw the spring portion on the threads of the stove bolt. It was a snap then to pull the bolt through the bumper. I tried for about 20 minutes to figure out, based on the instructions, how to do it the way it is shown. If the instruction showed, using arrows, to feed the spring end from the underside through the bumper it would save knuckles and a lot of time. It took me only a few seconds to do it that way. I would be happy to explain it on the phone if you can not understand my explanation. Ted B 2553

Installation was a nightmare. I bought the bolt leader after watching the video think that was a slick way to get the bolt through the frame. It did not look like the one in the video or the website. The spring material was so thin, it could not erect the bolt inside the frame to be pulled it through the backing plate and frame hole. Had to cut two holes in the trunk of the car to fish out the bolt and get it vertical to drop through the backing plate and frame hole . After that the rest of the installation ( one U-bolt) went well. From the outside, the hitch installation looks good. On the inside, I had to cut plates and seal them over the holes in the trunk to keep the exhaust gases out of the car.31971
