Perhaps the easiest light kit to install, the sealed light units snap into the built-in mounting brackets on Draw-Tite, Rola and Tow Ready cargo carriers and then plug into the existing 4-pole trailer connector on the vehicle.

Features:

  • Fits Draw-Tite 40101, Rola 59502 and 59507, and Pro Series 63153 and 63155 trailer hitch mounted cargo carriers
  • Off-set Y-harness - one lead measures about 3'

Light Kit Installation

Insert grommet

Step 1

Mount rubber grommets on both sides of cargo carrier tray making sure grommets are seated securely.

Insert light

Step 2

Press tail lamps into grommets until seated securely on both sides of carrier tray.

Route plug

Step 3

Route plug with green wire under cargo carrier to the passenger side (right) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.

Route plug with yellow wire under cargo carrier to the driver side (left) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.

Secure wiring

Step 4

With supplied cable ties, secure all wiring to the bottom of the cargo carrier.

Please note: With the off-set Y-harness, one wire lead (about 3' long) is run straight to a light, the other lead (about 6' long) is run along the back edge of the carrier before it curves up to the second light. On the 40101 and 59502 cargo carriers, the wires come up through the carriers' mesh floor to attach to the back of the lights. On the Tow Ready carriers 63153 and 63155, the tighter mesh floor is not large enough for the plug to pass through. Therefore run the wire leads under the platform to the lights, then up the front of the carrier and around to the back of the light. This also helps prevent the wires from getting pinched by the cargo. On vehicles where the 4-pole trailer connector is tucked under the vehicle, a 4-pole extension may be required to connect the two plugs. See 'related items.'

Very easy install. Good finish to any cargo carrier.

by:

Instructions were decent. These fit like a glove. Fast delivery--2 days!! Thanks!

by:

Plain and simple and will work great! Easy to order and got in a day before I was promised.

by:

Great value! The drivers side wires are a little short but it still reaches.

by:

Super LightsThe lights were very easy to install and provide an added measure of safety for a great price

by:

Very dispappointed that there's no easy way to replace the bulbs if they would burn out. Hopefully that never happens.

by:

The trailer lights fit great as long as you take time to figure out the wire lengths.

by:

Easy to use. Glad it made the cargo carrier more visible.

by:

Easy to install. Very bright. I can't imagine the LED type are worth the extra money. These are excellent!

by:

Driver side light wire too short? - remove the light, rotate it 180 degrees, and reinstall it. This will give you 6 or more inches.

by:

I would have said it was excellent but the cable is to short. I purchased that extended cable adapter and it made the difference.

by:

They were available by e-mails prior of my purchase and responded to my questions. The shipment was quick, enough secure. Items were as described.
They did follow up with e-mails on my receipt.

by:

I read a lot of reviews that talked about the wires not being the same length and not being able to conceal the connection in the trunk of the vehicle. This was true but the T-adapter from my tail light was long enough that I was able to secure the connection onto the cargo carrier. This will work just fine and I am very satisfied with the installation and results.

by:

It's great for what it is... until you need to change a bulb... the lenses seem to be permanently glued to the shells, so it's impossible to pull them apart and change the bulbs. Am I missing something? I mean, what the heck kind of design is that?

Same problem, bought these for my Rola rack to use on a family trip to the home of the mouse in Florida, LOVE THE ROLA RACK, LOVE THE ETRAILER LARGE CARGO BAG, and ETRAILER as a whole is AWESOME!!!! ........That said, WISH I HADNT WASTED THE MONEY ON THE LIGHTS!!.......they stick too far into the cargo area because the plug connection is on the rear of the light.......If the connection was on the side vice the back then it wouldnt be so bad, Just like everyone else, wire to plug is too short so I ended up buying an extender so it wouldnt be in the way and look like crap........Left TX and on second day get to the home of Mickey and notice the passenger light is out....the lights were in use for all of two days.....just got home and had a few to look at the housing thinking I would a new bulb in....I do no see any way to get it apart without using implements of destruction - can see enough of the bulb to tell it is blown. Will probably trash the lights, go to the trailer shop down the road and build my own set with bulbs that can be changed....description really should read DISPOSABLE LIGHT KIT..........I really like etrailer but this product needs some serious improvement!!!!

by:

The product was received promptly and exactly as described by etrailer.

by:

A perfect fit for my hitch mounted cargo carrier. I have the Pro Series 24x60.

  • Recommended Bike Rack and Hitch Receiver for 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler with E-Bikes
For your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT78MR is a great option made by the same manufacturer as Reese components. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13392 is also a great fit for your Jeep with the rear spare and has a thicker powder coat but a lesser tongue weight rating. Either option will work well for your bike rack. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite hitch receiver options will require...

Hey John, yes the LED light kit part # 98174LED that you referenced does fit the Reese hitch cargo carrier part # 63153. This would give you the LED taillight kit you are looking for. What do you plan on carrying with the carrier?

No, I am sorry there is not. All of our light kits like the item # 20174 or item # C53201 use a 4-way connector. The 4-way connectors like item # C89KR, you were looking at, that fits your 2024 Kia Seltos do not have the ability to power a reverse light.

  • Size/Capacity of OEM Hitch and Cargo Carrier Recommendations for 2012 GMC Terrain
The hitch should have a sticker somewhere on it that lists its capacities. With the capacity and the size of the receiver opening, you can figure out which class the receiver is. I have linked you to an FAQ article that fully explains how to determine the size/class of your hitch receiver. For instance, if the receiver opening is 2 x 2 inches, it would be a Class III with a capacity of between 3500 lbs and 6000 towing and 300-600 lbs tongue weight. Tongue weight is the maximum amount of...

  • Recommended Cargo Carrier For 2015 Ford Mustang With 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch
To be able to use the Curt Cargo Carrier, part # C18151 on your 2015 Mustang you will need an adapter because the only trailer hitches available for your vehicle is a Class l trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. You would need an adapter like part # HTAD to be able to carry the 2-inch cargo carrier. Keep in mind that using any adapter in the hitch reduces the weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. The # C18151 basket weight is about 55-lbs. So this would not leave...

On the trailer hitches we have installed on a 2008 Acura MDX and similar models, we have found that the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to clear the rear bumper on the vehicle measures up to 5 inches. The Pro Series Cargo carrier, # 63153, measures 12-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier so it will clear the rear bumper. This is also enough distance to allow you to open the rear hatch on the vehicle. If your tail lights are...

  • Option For Adding License Plate Holder And Light Kit To Hollywood Rack Sport Rider Bike Rack
Hello Stephen, thanks for reaching out. We actually get this question a lot. There is a way to add lights and a license plate holder to the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider bike rack, but there is not any kind of custom fit kit for this. Typically when people want to add a license plate holder to a bike rack, they need a light for the plate and they want to add a taillight kit as well. For your tail light signals you can mount some lights like part # 20174 to the rails of the bike rack with...

This light kit will come with a 4-pole connector to plug into your vehicle's 4-pole trailer connector for your light signals. Thank you for the purchase of the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22B. Since your right turn signal is being obscured you could very possibly use the Thinline LED Trailer Tail Light # STL59RB with a 4-Way pigtail like part # HM38134 but I have a different recommendation for you that I believe is a bit simpler to install and will look better since that strip can only carry one turn signal function. • Light Kit and License Bracket Holder Recommendation for the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE
For your application I recommend the Light Kit # 20174 and 2 of the Mounting Bracket # BK70BB. These will mount under the horizontal bars for the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. When it comes to the license plate bracket I'm not quite sure what you could use though because any bracket with a light that we carry, like part # LPL56CB, is going to require more space to mount it than this bike rack provides. You might have to mount this kit to the horizontal piece as well because of this.

  • What is a Recommended License Plate Light for a Cargo Carrier?
The best option for you to use a license plate light with your Pro Series Cargo Carrier, # 63153, would be to get the available cargo carrier light kit, # 20174. The kit plugs into a trailer wiring harness on your vehicle for turn, stop and running light functions. After that, the LED Trailer License-Plate Light with Mounting Bracket, # LPL55CB, can be mounted on the carrier and lit by tapping into the running light circuit wire from the light kit.

Well Curtis, we do have the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT84YR which I do see you already found for your 2017 Honda HR-V. This has the 2" opening and is rated up to 300lbs of tongue weight like you are looking for so it does meet your requirements. I do recommend adding the 4-Way # 118673 when you install the receiver as you may need to add some Lights # 20174 to the Cargo Carrier # 63153.
