Perhaps the easiest light kit to install, the sealed light units simply snap into the built-in mounting brackets on Draw-Tite, Rola and Tow Ready cargo carriers and then plug into the existing 4-pole trailer connector on the vehicle. Not only provides a great finished look on the carrier, but also the important lighting features when your gear blocks the vehicle taillights.
Light kit for Draw-Tite and Rola Railed Cargo Carriers.
Light Kit Installation
Step 1
Mount rubber grommets on both sides of cargo carrier tray making sure grommets are seated securely.
Step 2
Press tail lamps into grommets until seated securely on both sides of carrier tray.
Step 3
Route plug with green wire under cargo carrier to the passenger side (right) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.
Route plug with yellow wire under cargo carrier to the driver side (left) and plug into cargo carrier tail lamp.
Step 4
With supplied cable ties, secure all wiring to the bottom of the cargo carrier.
Please note: With the off-set Y-harness, one wire lead (about 3' long) is run straight to a light, the other lead (about 6' long) is run along the back edge of the carrier before it curves up to the second light. On the 40101 and 59502 cargo carriers, the wires come up through the carriers' mesh floor to attach to the back of the lights. On the Tow Ready carriers 63153 and 63155, the tighter mesh floor is not large enough for the plug to pass through. Therefore run the wire leads under the platform to the lights, then up the front of the carrier and around to the back of the light. This also helps prevent the wires from getting pinched by the cargo. On vehicles where the 4-pole trailer connector is tucked under the vehicle, a 4-pole extension may be required to connect the two plugs. See 'related items.'

Today we are going to show you the Pro Series 24 by 60 rail cargo carrier for 2 inch trailer hitches, part number 63153. The Pro Series cargo carrier is a fixed, light carrier designed to fit 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitches, class III or higher. The black powder coat finish resists rust and corrosion. The carrier uses a shank with a 2-1/2 inch rise to provide extra ground clearance. There is an optional light kit available, part number 20174, that is designed to fit the cargo carrier and provide all your basic trailer light functions turn signal, brake light and running light. The carrier features these nice, 5-1/2 inch tall side rails. These tall side rails are going to help keep your gear in the basket and will provide a good anchor point for your tie-downs. When you go to use a tie-down, make sure that you do not anchor to the expanded steal. It is not designed to bare any kind of tie-down load. It is finished with a black powder coat that resists rust and corrosion. Now we are going to load the cargo carrier and secure our gear with cam buckle straps. And there you have it for the 24 by 60 railed cargo carrier, part number 63153.

The only issue that I see on the light kit that i do not like is that the lights stick into the cargo area too much. I have a bin that i got to fit inside it perfectly but the lights are in the way. A few more of the black zip-strips would be helpful to keep sags out of the wiring.24829

Wireing to short.... Wireing harness has 2 wires, one for each side/light and the drivers side one is 2 feet short. One has to cut and extend the wireing in order to use this kit. Both wires should be the same length and about 4-5 feet. Do not buy this unless you are prepaired to modify it.387
I just made a 2013 purchase and it is disappointing that ETrailer hasnt fixed this issue 6 years later.

All parts were top quality, easy to install, everything you need to hook up. Directions were clear and easy to follow. But the power cords for the driver side could be a little longer, should be longer like the Passenger side lighting harness. Both wiring harnesses go from the lights then to the center of the carrier, then to the hitch area. There was extra wiring on the passenger side; you may want to look at this. 80751

I purchased the light kit in conjunction with the etrailer 60x24 hitch cargo carrier. The lights are in a rubber grommet enclosure that snaps into the oval openings on the carriers back rails. The wiring has a connector that fits into the light. It was just a matter of pressing the rubber grommets into place, snapping the lights into the grommets, plugging the connectors into the lights, and then zip tieing the wiring into place with the included zip ties. Couldn't be simpler. Lights seem high quality.76084

Purchased for my ROLA 23x56 cargo carrier. Gaskets are too small so it keeps falling out of teh oval cutouts on the carrier. I'll either silicone glue it in on use electrical tape somehow but this was not what I expected. Can't comment on lenth of cables because I haven't tried it yet. Products ok but wouldn't be my first choice next time.72277

The product was delivered on time. I thought the lights were not the right fit, but then I oriented them according to the direction of the letters and they snapped it securely. I know because the one I did wrong took a lot of working at to get it out again. It'll be fine on a trip. The wires were not long enough to attach underneath the carrier as pictured. I had to do them diagonally on one side. Not a big deal, but I'm glad I took it to the car and hooked up the lights before I zip tied the wires down. All I need to do now is stop by Autozone or Pep Boys for a hitch carrier whisper lock of some kind. I think I will be very happy with the cargo carrier .42290

The product works as described and I am generally happy with it. The wiring connectors that attach the the lights are difficult to connect and are problematic. It is easy to break the connectors because the connection extends into the basket area and it is easy to break them when loading stuff at night into the basket. I enjoy having the basket and the wiring kit. Just be careful connecting the wiring kit to the lights and loading the basket or you'll be purchasing another wiring kit.28026

It's great for what it is... until you need to change a bulb... the lenses seem to be permanently glued to the shells, so it's impossible to pull them apart and change the bulbs. Am I missing something? I mean, what the heck kind of design is that?26704

The light kit is very simple to install. Comes with plenty of zip ties and wire to reach the light connection on the vehicle. The biggest down side to the pack is the rubber gaskets are too small for the carrier. The lights themselves fit snuggly, but I had to create an inner "washer" type fitting with some spare zip ties in the garage to keep the entire light from falling out of the oval space on the carrier. I see the kit fits several brands of cargo carrier, but it's not quite the best fit for a Tow Ready cargo carrier.22764

The lights work great and are easy to install, but the power cables aren't the same length for the left and right sides. (It is not long enough on one side but way too long on the other.) My husband made it work, but it was just a bit of a pain using tie-straps to wrap the extra length of the dangling power cable. 20202

Kit is complete and ready to install. Light assembly grommets need a little tighter fit in hitch carrier, fit is a little loose and sloppy. All in all happy with kit as long as lights don't fall out of carrier.14917
I agree that the lights fit too loosely. I now have one light because a cooler slid and popped the other light out while driving. Thanks to the quick connectdisconnect feature, the light is along the road somewhere.

There are replacement lights available, part ST70RB. These lights are a snap-in design, and are not as secure as lights that use hardware mounts. If installed properly, they will hold in place when traveling down the road, but a loose cooler could certainly knock them out of place.

The Rola railed cargo carrier was easy to assemble using the instructions that came with it. The available lite kit was also easy to install with the included instructions. I did however need to use silicone to 'glue' the lites into place. etrailer.com delivered the cargo carrier in a timely manner, I would definitely recommend the product(s) and wrestler. 14438

The kit was received in 2-3 days, fit perfectly, installed in 15 minutes (would be 5 mins if I had to do it again). I'm pretty sure my carrier is wider than most so the wires juuust reached the connector as I ran them to the left side support bar (rather than the middle) versus going down the center. I did use heavier gauge zip ties since I had some around and much time under the TX sun can wear those out quickly. Overall I love the product and feel it was well worth the price. I expect they'll outlast the vehicle and easily increase the value of the carrier beyond the cost. Sorry I can't get you a picture; my ball hitch is locked on and I can't find the key :( Thanks for a terrific product.13939

I read a lot of reviews that talked about the wires not being the same length and not being able to conceal the connection in the trunk of the vehicle. This was true but the T-adapter from my tail light was long enough that I was able to secure the connection onto the cargo carrier. This will work just fine and I am very satisfied with the installation and results.11094

Bought the 24x60 railed cargo carrier with the light kit - love the carrier, but the light kit sure could use up to 1 foot more length for the yellow (driver's side) wire. It is too short and I could not route it neatly using the support beams--had to go straight from light to plug and then there is still no slack. They could have taken some from the green (passenger side) because there is plenty there to route neatly along the support beams. I had to fold up about 8 inches of that run. It is simple to install and works fine, just need more wiring.5914

Nice Lights A well-designed light kit. Everything was thoughtfully included to ensure a successful installation. By the way, don't be alarmed by the fact that the green wire being a lot longer than the yellow wire. It's supposed to be that way in order for you to install it on the right side of the cargo carrier, with enough length to route it to the left side and toward the back of the carrier. Not bad, wires could be better Wire lengths are very odd for this product. The yellow wire for one side is almost just too short and the green wire for the other side is about a foot too long. Also, as mentioned in another review, the wire mesh of the 63153 carrier is too small to fit the wire connectors thru the mesh. So I had to cut and splice the wires to get it to work appropriately. I can't comment about reliability and performance as I've only used it once to pick up a xmas tree.513

Cut and Splice I purchased this light kit for Carrier 63153. As per the instructions, you are to run the wires along the bottom, then run up through the mesh floor. Impossible with carrier 63153. Due to the small size of the mesh flooring and the size of the light connectors, I had to cut and splice the wires, as to have a professional looking installation. No big deal, just takes a little time and effort.134

I wish that the cables could be threaded through the hollow tubes underneath the cargo tray: this would be easy if the plug were not too large to fit through the opening. Therefore the cables - even though running underneath the tray - are unnecessarily visible.26619
