Video Transcript for Review of Putco Vehicle Lights - Replacement Red LED 194 Wedge Bulbs - P340194R-360

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a quick look at the Putco 194 style led bulbs. These are going to be red LEDs that are going to replace an existing bulb in your vehicle. These are a red light, so you want to make sure that you're using it on maybe a taillight, brake light or something like that, where it has that red color. The nice thing about this is that since they are LEDs, they are typically going to be a much longer lasting light than your typical incandescent bulb, and also take less power and give you just as bright, if not brighter of light. So we're going to get two of these little guys and they should pretty much fit exactly into that housing.

They're pretty small and compact. So I don't think you'll have really any issues getting these installed or with them being too big for any kind of housing. Of course, there might be some variants, but they're pretty nice and slim. So they should just be a direct fit for any kind of housing that you're putting them into as long as it's again, using that 194 wedge style bulb. So I'm going to hook one of these little guys up to power so you can see that light.

They are digital reversed polarity protected so you don't have to worry about putting it in the wrong way, should just go in whatever way you put it in there.Rig that up, turn on the power, and see nice 360 degrees of illumination going all the way around that light. And I'll turn it off the studio lights, you can get a better idea of that. So does a really nice, solid light all the way around. It's just one little diode in there, but does a pretty nice job of giving us a very bright, solid red light. Turn that off and go over some of the more of the specs.

But these are rated at 150 lumen output and three watts. They work just fine with any kind of 12 to 24 volts system. And there is again, just one diode per bulb. You do get both bulbs. So one for either side, if you're using them for a brake light or something like that. They are also error-free with a canned bus performance so you don't have to worry about them triggering any kind of warning lights.

They should be able to be powered up without having to have a resistor in place. A lot of times with older vehicles, especially, it'll not be able to sense how much current is going through because it's where it's used to having more from the incandescent bulb be taken as far as the power output. But with these, we shouldn't have to worry about them causing any kind of hyperflash or anything like that. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Putco metal led red bulbs. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if these are the right ones for you. We do have a lot of lighting options here at etrailer.com so check them out. Thanks for watching..

  • Are Red or White Led Lights Brighter When Used as Brake Lights
Typically white leds like the Putco Metal LED Bulbs - 194 Warm White # P340194W-360 are going to be brighter than red leds like Putco Metal LED Bulbs - 194 Red # P340194R-360. However the bulbs do not have a light output rating. I always recommend using red leds for tail and brake lights.
