Video Transcript for Rhino Rack Roof Rack Review - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox
Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be test fitting the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System consisting of part numbers RRVA118B-2, these are the aero crossbars 46 inches long. These also come in silver, as part number RRVA118S-2. We'll also be using part number RRRLKVA. These are the 2500 series legs for the aero crossbars. And part number DK226, and this is the custom fit kit for the Equinox. The Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle. You can carry a bike rack, cargo basket enclosed cargo box, ski and snowboard carriers as well as kayak carriers.
The two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pounds, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. It also has a rubber strip on the top, and that coupled with the shape of the bar will actually cut down on wind noise and drag while you drive. Each one of the four legs, once installed, can be locked down. Therefore, once you actually install this onto your roof it's going to be secure to your roof as well. Also at the ends of our end caps here, you can replace these knockouts with a lock system which is sold separately. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have it partially assembled on our table here, and our next step is to take our 2500 series leg and install it to the other end of our bar.
We'll start by inserting this metal piece here into the T track of our bar. We've gone ahead and flipped it upside down. So just line them up and slide it into place. Normally there would be a strip that we place in this and cut it to length, but for demonstration purposes we'll just measure it out. Then we'll take our included tightening tool and tighten the bolt in the center of our leg. With that done, I'll go ahead and install our end cap and lock it into place as well, using the included tool to do this.
Next we'll install out fit kit, and this consists of the rubber foot pad and the clamp. When installing our rubber pad, they are numbered and have an arrow on them so just make sure that they're on the right leg. Next we'll install our clamp by unscrewing this screw here, putting our clamp into place, and reinserting them. Now we're ready to set it on our roof. We'll start by opening up our rear doors. Trying to keep it even on both sides.
Next we'll take a measurement from center of the bar to center of the bar, and you'll find this in your instructions as well. With everything spaced out properly, we'll snug it up against our door on both sides, then we'll tighten it down about five or six turns each side until it's completely tightened down. And the way you know that is the curved end of our tightening tool will straighten out, and that'll tell you when it's torque to it's proper specifications. Once everything's tightened down, our final step is to put our locking end caps in place. Then we can load up our gear and hit the road. We'll fit these two tabs onto the inside and we're good to go. And there you have it for the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.

The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.

I bough this roof rack to use with a cargo box and to carry a couple kayaks. It took me and a helper about 45 min to install and they went on without a problem. The instructions are very easy to read and follow and have good pictures to help with the location of where the rack goes. They are very sturdy and it's nice that they come with a keyed lock for security. My father claimed that this rhino rack installed in half the time his yakima rack took and this rack was similar in quality. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good roof rack.

2010 Chevrolet Equinox
These fit great for my 2010 chevy equinox, i was worried it would scratch the paint or the clamps would pinch my door frame too hard but after a year of having them installed im impressed with how well they've held up. I bought the rhino rack and yakima kayak stacker to haul 2 kayaks, over all it was a great choice.

amazing used all last summer to hold luggage as the car was full of ppl and animals. Held on great super quiet didnt even really notice it was there and now that the luggage carrier is off you can't notice it at all. Love this site made it easy to find the kit I need for the yr make and model of my suv. Can't wait to get more gear from them!

Nissan Versa
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.

Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?

I have owned this system for >1 year now, and it’s held out beautifully! I had my reservations, but it has been solid and sturdy over 60k miles of travel. Would 5-stars recommend this system and etrailer.
I choose to always keep it on, whether or not my topper is on- it’s chipped the paint on my car a tad and is a bit laborious to put on/take off… but overall LOVE. it has transformed my ability to travel. Good customer service from etrailer, too!

2015 Nissan Rogue
This is an excellent product. It was the only product that would fit my truck. I was able to mount it by myself, it took me longer than I thought it would, but it helps if you watch first a video on line about how to put it together. The support staff is excellent if you miss any parts. I highly recommend it for the 2015 Nissan Rogue.

2017 Ford F-150
This rack worked out great... I installed in on a 2017 Ford F-150. We drove 6 hrs through wind and rain with a SUP and Tandem Kayak on top. It really took a beating in a storm the whole way. One bracket was a little loose and shifted because of the wind on the Kayak, but it held together. Super happy with Rhino rack!

This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
