Spectras White Lights

Cool-colored light - especially that with a high color temperature - promotes driver alertness, as opposed to warm-colored light, which promotes relaxation. Color temperature is based on chromaticity, which refers to the quality of a color rather than its luminance. A bulb with a color temperature greater than 5,000 kelvin will produce cool-colored light, whereas a bulb with a color temperature between 2,700 and 3,000 kelvin will produce warm-colored light. In short, CIPA's EVO Formance halogen bulbs incorporate bright light with high-quality color so that not only can you see the world around you, but you can also be truly aware of it.

Video Transcript for CIPA EVO H13 Halogen Headlight Bulbs Installation - 2008 Mercury Mariner

Today on our 2008 Mercury Mariner, we'll be installing the CIPA Evo Formance Spectras H13 halogen headlight bulbs in the ultra-white color, part number CM93419. The kit includes two bulbs of the H13 style, as well as two bulbs of the T10 wedge design. It also comes with a 30-day warranty. We're going to go ahead and turn the headlights on and show you what our headlights look like with the factory headlights installed. As you can see, they're kind of a yellowish and almost dim color, but we'll fix that problem after we install our new CIPA halogen headlight bulbs. To begin with, we'll need to go ahead and raise the hood of the vehicle.

Now that we've got our hood supported, we'll go ahead and point out where we'll be working on this vehicle. We'll go ahead and start over here on the driver side. To remove the old existing bulb, you'll simply reach your hand in behind the headlight assembly and you'll see how there's a factory wiring harness that leads right to the back of it. Now, the bulb that's already installed in the light assembly will have two ears, or two little sections of plastic that stick out on either side. To remove the wiring harness from the back, we'll simply push in on the tab, right here on the connection.

With the bulb unlocked from the headlight assembly, we can pull it out enough that we can remove the wiring harness from the back of it. Now we're ready to install our new CIPA halogen headlight bulb, as we make the new connection between our new bulb and the factory wiring harness. You'll simply line up the locking tab and push it into the back side of the new light bulb, making sure that you hear the tab on the connection lock into place. Now that we have the new bulb plugged into the wiring harness, we're ready to re-install it into the headlight assembly. We'll simply put it back into the headlight assembly and twist it, locking it back into place. Now that we have one side of the bulbs changed, let's go ahead and turn on the headlights and show you the difference.

As you can see here, on the driver side it's much brighter, and the actually light has more of a white tint to it, while our passenger side, which still has the factory bulb in it, still has a yellowish tint to it. Now we'll go ahead and turn the headlights back off, and we'll repeat the same process over on the passenger side. We'll reach our hand in behind the headlight, twist the old bulb out from the headlight assembly, unplug the factory wiring harness from the back of it, again pushing in on the locking tab here. It's a good idea not to touch the bulb with your bare hand, so we're going to go ahead and use a paper towel here to hold the actual light bulb section. We'll then take our new bulb and plug the factory harness into the back side of it, again, making sure that the locking tab is fully secured.

With that done, we'll put our new light bulb into the light assembly by lining up the tabs and simply twisting, until we feel it lock into place. Now that we've installed the light bulb over here on the passenger side, we'll go ahead and turn the lights back on. Now as you can see here, we have a bright white illumination on the wall with the two new headlights installed. There's no more yellowish tint to our headlights. Now, the kit also comes with two additional light bulbs. The two additional bulbs that come with the kit are two T10 bulbs. Now in this case, we're actually going to install them in the license plate lights at the rear of the vehicle. We'll be replacing the dingy yellowish-color tinted bulbs with the new bright white halogen-style bulbs. To do this, we'll simply raise the rear hatch, just to give us a little bit better working angle. You can see here how there's a little tab on one side. We'll push this little tab in and work the light bulb assembly housing out. With the light bulb assembly pulled out of the rear hatch of the vehicle, we'll notice that there's not very much extra length of the wiring, so you have to work pretty close to the rear hatch. Go ahead and hold the housing in one hand and twist the wires loose on the back side of the housing. This will allow the bulb to come out of the light housing. Once you have that out, you'll simply pull the bulb out of the socket. With the bulb removed, we'll go ahead and take our new Evo T10 style wedge bulb and install it back into the light socket. You'll have to twist it back into the light housing and then work the housing back into the rear hatch. Now that we've completed the driver side, let's go ahead and show you the difference between the old-style bulb and the new-style bulb we've just installed. You can see here the driver side is much brighter and doesn't have that yellowish tint to it. Now let's go ahead and complete our installation by replacing the bulb here on the passenger side. Again, we'll simply push in on the tab, work the housing out that holds the light bulb, and then remove the light bulb from the back of the housing. We'll put the new light bulb back into place. We'll put the light bulb back into the housing, and then reinsert the housing back into the rear hatch, and again turn the lights on, so you get a full effect of what the two new bulbs look like on the license plate. You can see here it's much brighter, as well as being a much whiter color. There's no more yellow, dingy color. And with that, that'll complete our installation of the CIPA Evo Formance Spectras H13 halogen headlight bulbs in the ultra-white color, part number CM93419 on our 2008 Mercury Mariner. .

I was curious to see what these would do. After using them for a weekend, the factory bulbs are going back in. The headlight bulbs, though they produce a white color light, are in fact dimmer than the factory installed Phillips bulbs. The 194 bulbs, again whiter as far as light color, are significantly dimmer than the license plate bulbs that were factory installed.

by:

They work great.

by:

The bulbs did not fit my truck although they were labeled for a 2014 model

by:

These lights were everything I hoped them to be! Easy install & work like a charm. Only thing is, the two mini lights that came with it were not blue, but white. I still like them, just wish they were the same blue color! I've only had them a few days now, but no problems so far. Good Buy!

by:

There were two sets of bulbs included in the purchase. The headlights are more of teal color, I would not say blue. The second pair are parking lights. These are not blue, they are white. The parking lights are LEDs and not compatible with my vehicle.

We do not actually offer HID (High Intensity Discharge arc lamp type) vehicle lights but usually there will be a number code or some other brand or part reference on the item to tell you what light-producing element it uses, if it is replaceable. Your lights could potentially use either DOT-compliant (street legal) bulbs or they could have "off-road" bulbs that are too bright for legal use on public roads. Many HID products will not be street legal. If you click on the linked page you'll...
