Injection-molded covers conceal the mounting brackets used to install the step bars for a seamless, from-the-factory appearance.
Oversize step pads allow you and your passengers to safely step out of your vehicle. The grooves in the UV-resistant, injection-molded polymer pads provide traction and direct water away from the surface of the bars to help prevent slipping.
No need to worry about rust on these nerf bars. Not only are they constructed of durable, rustproof black powder coated aluminum, but the black molded plastic endcaps also keep out moisture to help prevent internal corrosion.
Installing the bars is easy. A mounting kit is included, featuring custom brackets that bolt onto existing holes in your vehicle's rocker panels - no drilling necessary.

How's it going, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the line of Westin, R5 Nerf bars. Today on our truck we have the polished stainless steel, however, there are other finishes available. So it's really just going to depend on your taste. Nerf bars we're originally designed to help protect the rockers on the underside of your truck, but things have come a long way since then, and now we're going to primarily use them to help us get in and out of the truck. Since today's trucks do sit so high and as an added bonus, we get that visual enhancement as well.
It really does make it that much easier to climb in and out.And since it does come to our back door as well, one of the things that I personally like to use it for, we open our door up, kind of gives us a height advantage here in a way, if we have anything in the bed of our truck, we can grab it really easily. Just one of the things many people don't really think about when it comes to these Nerf bars, it gives you a really good spot to clean off your muddy or snowy boots before you hop up in your truck. Just come up and kick the dirt or mud off and hop right in. Compared to some of the other ones available. One of the things I noticed that is different about these, this is going to have this cover that goes over the brackets.
And that's just one of the things, in my opinion, the small details that they didn't forget about to make our whole package look more complete.On the end of our Nerf bars, we're going to have a cap, and not only does that, give us a little bit cleaner look, but these are also going to help prevent any water debris from your tires, getting slung up inside, making sure that these are going to stay in good shape for a long time. The subheads himself, are going to have a little bit of grip and that's going to help eliminate any potential slips when you're climbing in and out of the truck. Now, the Nerf bars are going to be five inches wide. So it's going to be plenty room to get your foot up on here. Unlike some of the other style of running boards, which are very narrow and you hop up on it and your foot seems to almost roll off of it.One advantage these have over a motorized style running board is that these are going to be reliable and once you have them in place.
You know they're going to work every time since there's no moving components. Finally, one of the really nice things about these, is that they're going to be very straightforward to get installed. That'll finish up our look at the line of Westin, R5 Nerf bars..

Everything you would hope they would be. One year later, look great, solid fit and sturdy.
The running boards are just what I wanted. The issues that I had are that The installation instructions did not say that they would fit 2023 GMC, but they did. I was also missing one nut for the install that I had to purchase else ware. They are good boards, the company just needs to improve quality control.
Not only did the Nerf Bars arrive in excellent condition, they were a beautiful addition to our customers 2018 Chevrolet. Our customer was very satisfied with how wonderfully they complimented his new truck as well as the ease of getting in and out of his truck.
Instillation was simple and hassle-free.

These look amazing. They look close to stock and really enhance the overall appearance of my truck. Very sturdy with a nice wide foot tread. You also have the ability to slide these a couple inches forward and back to get them lined up with the cab exactly where you want them. Installation was easy. Took a little longer than it should have because it was only 6°F while I was installing them, so frequent breaks to thaw my fingers were necessary!
Super easy to install. The aluminum was a little thinner than what I was expecting and they hang a little lower that what I was hoping. They look great on the truck, super easy to install and seem to be pretty sturdy. So far worth 5he money.
Overall happy with these. Very easy to install, sturdy, and happy I chose aluminum. Only knock I have is after one year the paint on the steel mounting brackets is not holding up. Will need to repaint these.

Looks great. Only wish Westin supplied four brackets to give it a More symmetrical Look.
Chose them because it looked like they were a little lower step than others and that is the case. Love the lower step height and it does not affect vehicle clearance (Ram 1500). Very nice looking solidly built nerf bars.
The rails came in with no damage and fit perfectly
They are good. No rust, dents etc. They fit a size 12 shoe will. No problem getting in. The bottom of mine are open. They are not a hollow tube. At this point one year later, I would buy again, but there is no need.
First off, instructions are horrible. They constantly contradict themselves. What was supposed to be a simple install turned into an 5 hour ordeal. Do not attempt torque anything, you will wind up bending the brackets and breaking them, just hand tighten them. I feel as if there should have been another support instead of 3 for a crew cab truck. Overall product is good. It did come with a ding in it but by the time I realized it I had already put the brackets on so there was no returning it.
Great product, made truck look better, very functional. Highly recommend to any Colorado owner.

Great service from all at etrailer. Very nice product. Looks great. First running board took awhile to figure out the installation but second one went on easily and quickly.
I like the running boards, I wish they were about 2 inches lower, I had a problem with not having enough Flat washers and had to get a locking nut as well because I could not get one of the nuts to thread onto the stud bolt, I ended up going to Lowes and buying these items. The online video help me out a lot so thanks for putting that out to view. I found a very small dent on the drivers side running board after I placed them on the truck. I would of gave 5 stars if it was not for the issues, I mentioned.
The fit is great and install was fairly simple. We had seen Westin running boards on a truck while out shopping and we thought they looked great. We did a quick search online and placed our order. We’re very happy with our choice!
