  • Comparing the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned Ball Mount To Other Cushioned Ball Mounts
The Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM is indeed an excellent option that will help improve the overall towing experience by decreasing the felt road shock in the tow vehicle. The Convert-A-Ball in particular as you mentioned provides both up and down as well as side to side support via the polyurethane core. The advantage of the polyurethane core over other products which use rubber like the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount part # 325-GH-12005 or...

  • Can The Curt RockerBall Be Used With Convert-A-Ball Shock Absorbing Ball Mount?
I personally spoke to Curt who informed me their Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 should not be used with the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mounts including # CAB-UM. For the best experience I recommend using a ball mount with the correct amount of drop with the RockerBall and a anti-rattle. This will eliminate the play between the ball mount and your receiver allowing the RockerBall to absorb the trailer shock. We have a couple kits which have all the parts listed below otherwise...

While there is no way to attach an anti sway system to the Glyder for Gen-Y part # 325-GH-12005. I do have a solution for you. You can use the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM which isn't as clean looking of a product it is very effective and will accomplish the same goal as it is cushioned. Check out the video on it linked I have linked for you. To that you can add the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit - Economy part # 83660 and the Reese Sway-Control Bracket...

  • Parts Needed To Tow a Small Travel Trailer With Electric Brakes Behind a 2014 Subaru Outback
It appears you have it figured out on your parts. My only alteration on the parts would be using the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58000 to attach 7-Way # ETBC7 rather than the Mounting Plate # 18136. This is due to having the hidden cross tube on etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e42TR and the Curt Bracket # C58000 will attach to the end of the receiver to hold the 7-way. Here is the list of parts I recommend with the other bracket. etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e42TR T-One Vehicle...

  • How to Determine Correct Ball Mount Rise or Drop for Towing a Trailer with a 17 Inch Coupler Height
Normally trailer coupler height is around 17 inches, from the ground to the bottom of the coupler, and most hitch manufacturers design their hitches to work with a ball mount that will end up very close to this measurement. I am including a link to an instruction page detailing how to measure for the correct ball mount and how to measure the ball mount. With the Curt Trailer Hitch, item # 13555, for your 2008 Honda CRV the recommended ball mount is the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, item # 2753,...

  • Is There a Shock Absorbing Ball Mount That Can Be Used With Sway Control
I do have an option for you but there would be no way to attach a sway control mount to the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount part # 325-GH-12001. Instead, I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount part # CAB-UM which should then be able to used with the Reese Sway-Control Bracket part # RP26003.

  • Will a Cushioned Ball Mount Work with Surge Trailer Brakes
The cushion inside of the Convert-A-Ball cushioned ball mount # AMSC4 would have only a slight affect on the surge coupler on your trailer. You may not even notice it. The cushion is very dense and the more pressure that is put on it the firmer it gets. It would take more force to compress that cushion than to actuate the surge coupler. Cushioned ball mount # AMSC4 has a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop but there are other options if you need a different rise or drop to tow the trailer level: #...

  • Does The Curt Rebellion XD Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount Require A Minimum Tongue Weight
There is not an exact set minimum tongue weight for the Curt Rebellion XD Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount w/ 2" part # C45949-22516 however it is not going to be very effective on a light weight trailer. We have asked Curt before about lightweight trailers between 2k and 5k and they do agree there won't be enough tongue weight to compress the cushioned isolator so you would essentially be paying for something you can't use. I recommend to use the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned part...

Weight capacities are designed to tell you how much weight it can be used with and have it still be totally safe. The Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned, Adjustable Ball Mount # CAB-UM has a 5,000 lb weight capacity. If you are absolutely sure you'll never be over 5,000 lbs this will work well for you and it would not be pushing it to the limit.

  • Can Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned Adjustable Ball Mount Be Used with Weight Distribution System
I do have a great solution for you, however the Convert-A-Ball Dual-Cushioned Adjustable Ball Mount # CAB-UM that you referenced cannot be used with a weight distribution system, in large part because of its adjustment hole spacing. Just about any weight distribution shank features adjustment holes that are spaced 1-1/4 inches apart, on center. • Recommended Trailer Hitch Ball Mount for 9 Inch Drop To Level Coupler Height
It sounds like you want a fixed style ball mount. For that, I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 8-3/4" Rise - 10" Drop - 8,000 lbs # AMSC10. This will give you the drop needed plus a little to allow the trailer to sit slightly forward instead of slightly raised which allows for better tracking and sway control than the latter. This also has a built in cushion for comfort. You will also need the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40007 or # 40038. If you want the level towing...
