Video Transcript for PTC Custom Fit Engine Air Filter Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Express Van

Connor: Hey guys, Connor here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the PTC Custom Engine Air Filter for our 2015 Chevy Express van. It's going to install in our air box here, and it's going to stop some of the dirt and debris from entering our engine, which could hamper performance as well as decreased air flow, which could then in turn affect our fuel economy. Now, if you're like most people, you've probably been offered to have this changed for you at your oil changes. However, this is very simple to do yourself. We're going to show you how so you can save a few bucks.Now, in order to get our old air filter out, we need to remove this outer cap here.

In order to remove this outer cap, there's going to be two clips, one on either side. In order to remove these, you simply pull forward on this, which is going to remove the hook from the back. We're going to do this on the other side. Then again, pull the hook out and then we can just remove this cap here. We may need to wiggle it a little bit, because it is kind of close to our radiator.Once we get that out, we can set this aside and then we can remove our old air filter.

Now, the old air filter is just held in place with a little grommet there, so if we give it a good wiggle, we're going to be able to pull this straight out. As you can see now, our old one is pretty dirty. There's a lot of dust and stuff falling out of it. As I said, over time, this could affect your fuel economy as well as hamper the performance of your engine bay, so it's a good thing to check this at least every oil change and then replace as needed. As you can see now on the left here, we have our PTC Custom Engine Air Filter, and this is the old air filter that we just removed.

There's a pretty big difference overall.When we install our new air filter, we're essentially going to be reversing the process we did for the old. We want to guide the air filter through the opening and the air filter housing here. Then we're going to be trying to find a grommet in there which is going to fit nicely around the grommet on the end of our air filter here. Then, we can go ahead and just give it a nice little snug and then you'll feel it push in over here and you know it's tight and there's not a lot of room.Now, once this is in place, we can go ahead and re-install the outer cap here. Now, if we take a look towards the top, there's going to be an arrow on the top and there's going to be one that matches on the actual air filter housing.

Now, we need to align those in order to get the hooks to match on the side. We may have a little bit of issue getting the new cap on. There's just not that much space there, so if we're just careful, patient, we should be able to clear this radiator here.Now as you can see here, once we have the cap on, our two arrows are matching up and then we can move on to re-secure these hooks on the side. Now, keep in mind, the end of this hook here is going to loop around a piece of plastic on this air box here, so we just want to make sure that engages before we push the clip forward. We can move on to the other side. We can press the clamp forward and that's going to lock it in place. We can go ahead and just give it a good snug to make sure everything lined up. It doesn't fall off and that's going to do it. Now, that we have our new air filter installed, we can go ahead and shut our hood and take off down the road. That's going to do it for the PTC Custom Engine Air Filter on our 2015 Chevy Express van.
