Video Transcript for Hands-On with the Metal Loom Clamp -1/4"

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number A0250. This is the 3/4" metal loom clamp. The heavy duty wire loom clamp is made of a plated steel construction and it's also going to have that rubber sleeve that's designed to protect the loom and the cable, or the wires that run through it. It's going to hold it securely to a frame or panel surface. This part number is going to include one clamp. They're very versatile and can be used for many different applications.

It's going to measure 1/2" in width. The diameter of the mounting holes, those are going to measure 1/4". Then the opening for the wires, that's also going to measure 1/4". I have a piece of angle iron here today. This would resemble maybe mounting it to a trailer frame, but I just want to give you a visual example of how this would mount and hold your wires up and out of the way. what I would do first is simply just take my wires.

I'm using wires that would be connected to a standard four-way flat connector. We're going to have four wires. Each wires is going to be 16-gauge wiring. I place that inside my clamp and I close the clamp over the wiring. It's going to make my holes line up.

Already got a pre-drilled hole in my frame. I'd line up my hole there. You can use many different types of hardware. I'm simply just going to use a screw and then place a nut on the backside of it. Depending on your surface, you could use a screw, a bolt, a self-tapping screw, just whatever works for you. Your hardware is going to be sold separately.

Once you have that on there, you just tighten it down. You can see how that is going to secure the wires up and out of the way along whatever mounting surface you're going to be using these on. That's going to do it for our review of part number A0250. This is the 1/4" metal loom clamp. .

  • Where to Place the Four Loom Clamps to Support Brake Lines in Kit HBA16-252-82
In short; they're not secured to the trailer frame. Presumably you would strategically place the loom clamps near those fittings you mentioned from kit # HBA16-252-82 to limit any movement of those fittings. The rigidness of the metal lines will help keep those metal lines in place so the clamps would not be needed for the metal lines. We do have other loom clamps if you want more, # A0500 for 1/2 inch and # A0250 for 1/4 inch. We also have clips, # T0936600, for more brake line support. I...

  • Parts Needed to Rewire Equipment Trailer With Brakes
We don't have a full kit but it will be fairly easy to put together. You can start with a new 7-way like the Bargman # 50-67-106. This comes with 18' of cable which will cover your needs for the most part. I also recommend using a junction box like the # 38656 along with ring terminals # 44-5310A and # DW05702-1. This will help keep everything organized. If you need additional wire to run to the lights you can use # DW02412-1 along with butt connectors # DW05744-10. If you need extra...

  • Does Titan Brake Line Tee Secure Trailer Brake Lines
Indirectly yes, the part # T0778500 does get used with brake hoses. If you check out the attached picture you'll see that holds a union tee that hoses run to. We do have clamps that were designed to secure brake lines like with the part # A0500 for 1/2 inch and # A0250 for 1/4 inch. We also have clips, # T0936600, for more brake line support.

It sounds like you want a diagram of the wiring for your trailer and breakaway system. I am attaching an article with pictures about wiring trailers. I am also attaching an article with pictures on wiring a breakaway kit. I also recommend making the wiring easier and cleaner with a junction box like Item # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it can be wired up and a video showing installation. Other items you might need for your wiring project is Item # DW04914-1, which is...

  • How To Secure Trailer Wiring When Inside Of Frame Is Not An Option
You could use pvc pipe and secure it to the frame of the trailer, but that is way overkill and way more work then you need to do to protect the wires. I would just get some wire loom the correct size for however many wires you have to run, and some claps to secure that to the frame. Since most trailers only have 2-3 wires going all the way to the back you should be fine with 1/4" wire loom # 7509-1, and securing it to the frame with clamps # A0250, and self-tapping screws # FA1131822.

  • Recommended Replacement Wiring And Lights For A Big Tex 35SA Utility Trailer
Hey Jules, Big Tex doesn't list the part numbers for the lights used on the 35SA but it looks like the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Light # STL3RB (driver side) and # STL2RB (passenger side) would be a match for the tail lights, but I'd still need to confirm dimensions with you. I'd also need dimensions on the clearance lights as well. For the wiring I recommend the Optronics Wishbone 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A25W42B. This wishbone style harness will have two separate...

  • Relocating License Plate and Bracket on a Utility Trailer
I recommend using something like and L-bracket, such as # CE26098G, that you can attach to the top rail near the end of the trailer. Then you can attach a bracket such as # LPL55CB (may have to do some drilling/modify the L-bracket). Then you can ground the license plate bracket to the nearby frame of the trailer and the power wire to the running light circuit. The wiring can be run along the frame to the nearest tail light for the power wire. You can use wire ties or even metal loom claps...

  • Clips and Clamps to Attach Wires and Wiring Harnesses to the Bottom of a Trailer Frame
There are many ways you can secure wires to a trailer. I would not recommend the use of tape as it will wear out quickly when exposed to the elements. Soldering is also not recommended because it is a more permanent method and you may need to change wires or move them in the future the hot solder would also melt the coating on the wiring, causing a short. If you can find some large enough, wire ties could be a simple solution. We have several clamps and clips that could work for this application....

  • Recommendations For Re-Wiring Horse Trailer With Brakes
Since you said you have a 7-way blade connector on your Silverado I would start with the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, part # H20046. This is an 8 ft long harness with the 7-way trailer connector. If you need a shorter harness, you can check out part # H20044 which is a 6 ft long harness with the connector. You will want a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to make sure you match the wiring on the trailer side connector to the functions on the vehicle connector. I then recommend...

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Setup Recommendation for a Tandem Axle Trailer
A 4-way trailer wiring harness wouldn't carry a brake signal so it wouldn't matter how many axles you would have on a trailer that has a 4-way. A better option would be a 7-way as that style of harness does carry the brake signal. Starting with a trailer side 7-Way connector you can use # H20042 which is 3 feet long. It doesn't have to be long though because it is going to the junction box. Speaking of junction boxes you can use # 38656. I have included a picture showing how it can...

You might also be able to go through the frame interior or through the interior of the vehicle. If you are going to replace all of those items, you may as well go the all out and replace all of the trailer wiring as well. • Routing and Protecting Trailer Brake Magnet Wires when Adding Electric Brakes to a Trailer
There are many things to consider when adding electric drum brakes to a trailer. I have included a link to our FAQ article that covers everything you will need. As far as routing the wires, first, you can attach the ground wires for the magnets nearby to the frame leaving enough slack for the travel of the suspension. For the power wire you would come off the magnet and run the wire to the front of the trailer along the frame. You can use a combination of wire loom # 7509-1 and loom clamps,...
