2005 Toyota Questions and Answers

  • What is the Weight Capacity of the Swagman Titan Trailer Hitch Mount 4-Bike Rack
  • On the Swagman Titan, # S63410, the single bike capacity is 35 pounds. The capacity of the rack as a whole is 100 pounds. So if you had four 30 pound bikes loaded that would exceed the capacity of the rack, you are correct. We have other 4 bike racks that can accept more weight. The Thule Vertex, # TH9029, for example can handle 140 pounds total (35 pounds per bike). But with its straight shank, the Vertex is not going to offer any additional ground clearance. I have included a link to a vide

  • Is there Enough Ground Clearance to Use the Thule Apex Bike Rack on a 2005 Toyota Sienna
  • Given that your trailer hitch is close to the ground and that the vehicle will likely sag when loaded and ready to go the Apex # TH9025, might not be the best option. The Apex has a straight shank which means the rack will be no higher than the receiver once installed. There are a couple of solutions. First, if you are set on the Apex, you could use some suspension enhancement to prevent the vehicle from sagging. Timbren springs like # TTORSEN04, would work well for this. They will also help

  • Installing the TracRac T-Rac G2 Ladder Rack on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma
  • Beginning in 2005, Toyota offered a deck rail system for the Toyota Tacoma. The deck rail system mounted directly below the top of the truck bed walls. Because of the location of the deck rail system on the Tacoma, the deck rails interfered with the installation of the TracRac T-Rac so TracRac made special clamps. The deck rail system was not offered on the Toyota Tundra until 2007, so this should not be an issue on your 2005 Toyota Tundra. You can simply disregard the section in the instruc

  • How Can I Carry 4 Bikes on a 2005 Toyota Prius
  • There are a few ways to carry 4 bikes on your 2005 Toyota Prius, however, to achieve your 4 bike goal, it is going to have be a combined effort. All available hitches for the Toyota Prius are Class I. Class I hitches have a 2 bike limit because the further the bikes extend from the back of the vehicle, the more leverage that is applied to the hitch from the bikes. A Class I hitch is not able to handle the stress that towing more than 2 bikes would create. To begin this process, I recommend Dr

  • Wall Mounted Bike Rack Storage for a Thule Helium Aero
  • The Thule Helium Aero, # TH9042 or # TH9043 will not work with the Boone Hang2, # BH90H3FS, because of the integrated hitch pin design on these bike racks. What I recommend is the Swagman X mount, # S80940. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. Be sure to secure the mount to a stud in the wall.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Locking up when Trailer Connector is Connected to 2005 Toyota Tundra
  • It sounds like you have the trailer connector on your 2005 Toyota Tundra or trailer wired incorrectly, or there is a short from the 12 volt accessory circuit to your brake output circuit and that is causing your trailer brakes to lock up. The first thing I would do is check the back of the connectors on your vehicle and your trailer and see if there is any obvious things that could cause the short. Next, I would check that the 7-way on your trailer is wired correctly. Check out the picture I

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendations For a 2005 Toyota Tacoma
  • It sounds like you have an aftermarket trailer wiring harness. Whether it is aftermarket or factory, that clicking noise you hear and the trailer lights not working indicate that there is a problem internally with the converter and it will need to be replaced. There are several options and I have included a link to them for you. The Curt harness you have referenced, # C56513, is a fit but this harness has a 5-Way flat trailer connector. A 5-Way flat is most common on boat trailers that requir

  • Pop and Lock Custom Tailgate Lock Installation on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab
  • I spoke with my technical contact at Pop and Lock to get more specific installation information for your 2005 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab. He told me that there are three possible wires that you can use on your truck, blue/white, solid blue, and blue/pink. The blue/yellow wire would not be the correct wire. I recommend using a test light like our Quickee Circuit Tester, # 3808, to test for the correct wire. Circuit testers are also available at most local hardware and auto parts stores. You wil

  • Why is Weight Distribution Not Recommended for a 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • The reason a weight distribution system cannot be used is because of the towing restrictions that Toyota has placed on the Highlander. There are a few factors that can cause this such as weak attachment points on the vehicle frame, towing capabilities of the vehicle and vehicle design. The purpose of a weight distribution system is to distribute the tongue weight of the trailer to the front vehicle axle and trailer axles. To do this, the weight distribution system creates an upward force at

  • Will the Rage PowerSport Hitch Mounted Carrier # SC500-AL105 Fit on a 2005 Toyota 4Runner
  • You should have no problem mounting the Rage PowerSport Swing-Away Carrier, # SC500-AL105, on your 2005 Toyota 4Runner. This carrier was designed to fit 2 inch trailer hitches and has a weight capacity of 500 lbs. There are two important factors to consider when choosing a hitch mounted accessory. First, you will want to make sure the carrier will clear your bumper. This should not be an issue on your vehicle because the hitch is pretty close to the rear bumper and this carrier has many hitc

  • Should a Reese Light-Duty Weight Distribution Kit be Used with a 2005 Toyota Highlander
  • If you were using a different vehicle to tow the trailer, it would probably be fine to leave the # RP66069 Reese Light-Duty weight distribution system installed. The issue in this situation is that your 2005 Toyota Highlander cannot be used with weight distribution, so you will need to remove the system in order to tow the 2008 Jayco trailer with this particular vehicle. As long as the trailer weight does not exceed the weight rating for the system then there should not be any damage to the

  • Will the Yakima BedHead Bike Rack # Y01133 Fit on a 2005 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab
  • To determine if the Yakima BedHead Clamp-On Bike Rack, # Y01133, will fit on your 2005 Toyota Tacoma, you will need to look at the top of your truck bed rails. This bike rack is designed to hook on the underside of the trick bed side rails (see photo). There must be a lip present for the hook to grip the rail. If your truck has the bed rail system, then we do have an option for you, however the BedHead will not work. Instead, you could use the RockyMounts Clutch SD Bed Rail Bike Rack, # RKY01

  • Will Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Rack HR1400 Clear the Bumper on a 2005 Toyota Sienna
  • The distance from the center of the pin hole to the edge of the closest wheel loop is 12 inches on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE bike rack # HR1400. Based on the hitch install we did on a 2005 Toyota Sienna, the distance from the pin hole to the edge of the bumper was around 6 inches, so you should have enough clearance to use the Sport Rider SE rack. Double check this measurement on your Sienna in case there are any variances. I am including links to the installation instructions and

  • There are many different weight distribution systems on the market and one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a weight distribution system is the tongue weight of your set up. This includes the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer plus the weight of any cargo that is loaded in the bed of your truck behind the rear axle. You will want to choose a weight distribution system with a tongue weight range that encompasses the fully loaded tongue weight of you

An alternative to the Erickson Anchor # EM4001 would be the Putco Push-Up Tie-Downs # P99901. So for a single axle with these wheels on it the capacity of the wheels, not the axle, would be 3,320 pounds. But the trailer would still be limited to the axle capacity.
