One Year Review - Front Runner Rear Mount Ladder- Video
Howdy, John with etrailer, and if you're looking for a way to get up and down from your platform rack, or just happen to need a way to get up to your roof, then the front runner ladders are going to be a way that you can go. But if you're wanting to have this put on your vehicle, you are going to have it as a permanent solution. You're gonna wanna make sure it's something you wanna live with, and you are gonna have to do some drilling and some installation. So you wanna make sure that this is something that you're actually going to use, and it's going to be able to hold up. That's why I'm going to be going over it. I've had this on here for about a year now, and I can kind of walk through some of the situations I've used it in and show if it's actually held up to those situations. more

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today, we're looking at this Surco ladder rack for the Sprinter vans, specifically the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans with high roofs. Now, this is gonna be a black color. As you can see, it's a black powder coat finish over a nice stainless steel, so it's lightweight and incredibly strong and it's gonna make it easier for you to get up and load and secure gear on the top, either platform or crossbars of your Sprinter van. Now, it installs simply into preexisting holes in the door. more

Now this is for the back rear door or barn door, as you may call it, for that Sprinter van. And it's gonna make it easy to go up and down and load and secure gear on the platform rack or crossbar on the top of your van. Now, it will install into preexisting holes in the door, so there's no drilling whatsoever required. You also get this nice safety bracket that's gonna prevent the door from flexing while you climb. more

Now the ladder has a weight capacity of 260 pounds. Myself, I'm 240, so I'm getting pretty close to the limit there, but I will say it feels pretty solid. The one downside I have, or complaint I'd have about it is it's really narrow. more

And I do wanna point out that this is not going to be suitable for 270-degree rear opening doors. So I do have this loosely assembled just to kind of give you an idea of what this is going to look like when you have this put together. If it looks like it's a little bit rickety, the reason is the hardware while attached is not secured. more

This makes it really easy to get on top of any kind of taller vehicles like your Class B RVs, your sprinter vans, anything that has that really tall roof, so you can expand how much stuff you can carry with you by being able to use that roof space. So if you're trying to get a bike rack or cargo carrier or anything up on top of there, you can use this guy to help you to do that.The nice thing about it is that it is made to European standards. They have a lot of different standards for ladders, the EN 131 standard is what this is tested to. So they put it through all kinds of rigors to make sure that it's nice and sturdy, so you shouldn't have to worry about any issues with that. It's also really easy to expand or telescope it in and out to get it to the height that you need it. more

Speaker 1: Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Rhino Rack folding ladder for the Rhino Rack Pioneer platform racks, part number RRRAFL. This is a lightweight aluminum ladder that attaches to your existing Rhino Rack Pioneer platform and enables you to get to whatever cargo you may have on the roof.The ladder is very easy-to-use and take on and off. It simply just hooks right into place and the ladder brackets themselves can be moved along the side here by loosening up the bolts or you can remove them completely and put it on the back or the other side of the vehicle if you need it.The feet are adjustable to accommodate for uneven ground and for the height of vehicles as well. You simply pull the pin on each side and adjust it to wherever you needed to.The ladder also sits out at an angle away from the vehicle to ensure there's no vehicle contact. This has a 275-pound weight capacity and also has grooved non-slip steps to prevent accidents.It also has a black powder coat finish, which is gonna resist rust and corrosion. At its shortest, it's gonna measure 78 and 3/4 of an inch tall. more
