Now, tire chains are really kinda the best method to get yourself the traction you need in those snow and icy or, even, muddy conditions in order to get that traction safely, maintain control of the vehicle, and everything else that comes along with it. And when it comes to the best tire chains for the Tiguan, one of the things that we really have to bear in mind is our clearance. While there's plenty of clearance around the outside of the tire in the wheel well, the problem comes with behind the tire and the clearance with the suspension. There's really only about an inch back there to work with. So the tire chains that we're gonna be looking at are gonna be the tire chains that we have fit on here that still give us enough clearance to use these safely. more

First and foremost, being self-tensioning means that you're gonna have this device here that's gonna provide constant tension on the chains. These guys are made of corrosion-resistant, high-carbon steel, and it has one of the more aggressive patterns that you could use as far as tire chains. V-bars are gonna work well for off-road as well as on-road, and it'll bite down into ice really well.
