So our neighbor came to us today with two issues that he needed to deal with. The first one being the ride quality. So with his standard pin box, he had absolutely zero cushioning. And with that he's gonna be getting a lot of chucking and road vibration that travels through that pin box down into his fifth wheel hitch and right through the body of his truck. So then he's gonna be feeling that when he is out on the road, coming to a stop, starting to take off, he's gonna be getting all of that vibration and chucking and just not having a really good ride quality. And on top of that, he is the second owner of this trailer. more

Hey there neighbors, Kevin here at etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel Pin Box here on our 2021 Grand Design Reflection 5th Wheel Trailer. If you own a short bed truck, you know all about the hazards of turning clearance and there's a few solutions for this out there. Typically it's gonna be that sliding 5th wheel hitch in the bed of your truck, but who really wants to get out of their truck, mid journey, walk back, unlatch, get back in your truck, pull forward, make your maneuver, then get back outta your truck, go back, unlatch your 5th wheel hitch, back up, re-lock it into place, into the towing position and then get back in your truck, just to take back off again. It's a whole lot of hassle and it's something that could be solved right here at our pin box with the Reece Sidewinder. With this one having a built-in turret up here, it's going to allow it to pivot side to side. so that way we can gain an additional 22 inches from our pivot point so we have more turning clearance and then the cab isn't going to be destroyed by the nose of our trailer when we go to make those 90 degree turns. more

We get a lot of people in here, you know, weekly, just asking us, "Hey, what kind of pin boxing can I switch out to" You know, maybe I want to get into an Air Ride pin box so that way I can really kind of adjust and fine-tune my suspension for my pin box so that I can handle all those ride quality issues, whether it's front to back chucking or it's that up and down porpoising movement that you feel as you're starting to drive. With this one in particular, this is not going to be something that you adjust and it is gonna have a break-in period. But after you get past that break-in period, this is gonna be one of the more comfortable options for your trailer and truck set up. So this pin box is gonna dampen all of that road shock and vibration through torsion technology. more

A Look at the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box- Video
Are you looking to tow your 5th wheel down the road with a little bit more cushion, not only for you and the passengers in your truck, but also the truck and all the contents in your camper Well, you can do that by adding a cushion pin box. This one is from MORryde and this is gonna allow you to absorb shock at the connection point, which is gonna translate to a better towing experience across the board for all of the truck trailer and people involved. Changing out your pin box from a just a fixed style means that with this cushion built in place, you can really add comfort to any 5th wheel that you have, including a wide range of weight capacities, anywhere from 11,500 pounds all the way up to 24,000. Let's Install the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box on a 2025 Brinkley Model Z- Video
Well, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look and installing the MORryde cushioned pin box on a 2025 Brinkley Model Z. Now, many OEs are supplying their fifth wheels with the Lippert Rhino Box, and that's kind of the standard one that's out there. So, if you have a fifth wheel, more than likely, it's either gonna be a 1621, or if it's a newer one, the Rhino Box fits a lot of different applications, including our Brinkley Model Z today. And the Rhino Box is gonna do a fine job of getting your camper down the road. The difference is, if you can upgrade that to something that's going to be cushioned, that's really going to make not only the passengers a lot happier in the truck, but also the contents of your camper a lot happier, too, because it's gonna cut down on any of that jostling that you're gonna have going down the road, cut down on chucking, porpoising, and all of the above, because having a suspension point at your contact or connection point is really just gonna translate across the entire towing setup that you have. Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Gen-Y shock absorbing fifth wheel king pin. Now, the biggest difference between this king pin and the factory one that might be on your fifth wheel is that these are going to have rubber torsion springs built into the head, so that when you're going over those bumps, or you start to get some chucking when you're going down the road, this is designed to help absorb most of that. You're still gonna have a little bit of it. What I've had experience with, I've got one of these on my trailer. I actually have the gooseneck version, but what I have seen happen is that the chucking will start, and this will eliminate it almost immediately, and if you've ever had chucking, or what most people will call porpoising, which is you feel either the weight of the camper coming down on the truck, or you can feel it pushing after you hit a bump, and it just keeps going, that is what this is designed to help with. more

Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna go over some of the details of the Curt Flex Air King Pin. Now, the biggest difference you're gonna notice right away, compared to a standard king pin, is that this king pin is going to have an air bag in it. Now, this air bag is designed to provide a cushioning action, so that when you're going down the road, if you have a lot of chucking in your camper when you're pulling it, whenever you hit a bump, if it feels really rough when you hit the bump, that's what this air bag is designed to do. You can fine tune it to your trailer, so that it's the most comfortable ride that you can get. Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today we'll be showing you how to install the MORryde Cushioned Fifth Wheel Pin Box here on our 2018 Highland Ridge, Mesa Ridge Lite, fifth wheel trailer. So if you have a standard pin box and you experience a whole lot of front to back chucking a whole lot of road vibration, let's face it, roads in America aren't paved with gold like they used to be. Kind of like our back parking lot here. It does cause a whole lot of road vibration and shock which ends up pushing it up onto your trailer, hurting the suspension of your trailer, putting strain on the mounting ears of your pin box. And then also it travels forward into your tow vehicle putting more strain on the fifth wheel hitch, wearing it down quicker, and then also wrecking the suspension on your tow vehicle. So to solve that, MORryde came up with the cushioned pin box, which has rubber dampeners in it to kind of eat up some of that road vibration and shock, and all that front to back chucking. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box, here on our 2007 StarCraft Homestead. So, a standard pin box on your trailer, isn't gonna have the pivoting head, it's not gonna have a built-in strut and it's not gonna have an airbag. Now, you're probably thinking, why do we need all this So I wouldn't say it's a requirement, but your standard pin boxes, they're basically gonna be transferring all the road shocks, when we hit a pothole, we're going over some bumps in the road, everything is gonna be transferred directly to the vehicle and you're gonna be feeling all those bumps in the road. It's actually gonna rely on the vehicle suspension and partly the trailer suspension. But when you add a cushioning mechanism between the truck and the trailer here, this thing is gonna absorb all that road shock there, so we're not gonna be transferring it to our vehicle. So overall, it's gonna be making our ride that much more pleasurable, and it's also gonna help maintain our 5th wheel trailer here, because it's not gonna be rattling around as much. more
