I'm Adam with etrailer. And today we're talking about the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 roof box on top of our 2020 Toyota Highlander. This is a great option for you if you're running outta space in the back of your car and you need to put your items somewhere else, this is a great option for you, especially if you wanna keep 'em out of the elements. The first thing we're gonna take a look at is the inside of the box. So we're gonna have to open it up using our included key and unlocking this. When I push it up, you notice it's a little stiff, but it's gonna be held in place by those hinge locks, and that's gonna allow me to keep it open without using my arms to keep it open. more

If you are looking for a sleek, easy to use roof rack system that you can carry around fun accessories like kayaks or a bike rack, or even expand your cargo space through the roof box or roof basket, well our Yakima roof rack here is gonna be a good option for you. Something very unique to the Yakima Skyline system is how easy it is to take off and reattach. So you just pull the end caps, you can lift it off of the landing pad and you even get little storage covers to put on top so that you have a very sleek system. So this keeps the functionality of having a roof rack, but if you don't want the roof rack on, you can take it right off. All right, Matt with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination Platform Bike Rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. I think this is gonna be a good choice if you're just looking for something that's gonna be an entry level bike rack just get your bikes from point A to point B. It's gonna have the capacity to hold two bikes, 35 pounds each, so unfortunately, it won't be able to accommodate your heavier e-bikes, and it's gonna have three tie-down points, one on each tire, using a strap. And we're gonna have a clamp on the frame. So unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes, but it will be able to accommodate some other alternative frame bikes, since this kind of slides up and down and can rotate some. If you wanna get into your hatch, you're gonna have to take the bike off, since this doesn't have a tilt-away feature. more

The first one's gonna be our 49 inch arrow crossbars, that's gonna plug into our Rhino-Rack Towers and that's gonna sit on to our base. This is gonna have the capacity to hold up to 165 pounds but I'd always recommend checking what your vehicle can withstand for its roof as well. more

Today when gonna talk about the Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack for four bikes on the 2023 Toyota Highlander I'd definitely recommend this bike rack for anyone who wants a premium bike rack, but either wants to go out with the family, make sure you can haul all four of your bikes, or if you wanna go out with friends and ride your bikes with them. What's nice about it is that it's gonna make two points of contact, one on each tire, so you're gonna be able to haul a lot of carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. And for all four bikes, you can carry up to 40 pounds. Now the nice thing about this rack is it has a tilt-away feature. Now there's a couple pros and cons to it. more

Now this is gonna be a solid bike rack if you're looking for something that's gonna be a little bit more versatile and something a little bit more in the premium end. What kind of makes this more versatile is that it's a platform bike rack that can hold up to two bikes, but it can hold bikes up to 60 pounds, so that's gonna be able to accommodate your e-bikes. Another thing that makes it more versatile is where it straps on, it's gonna have two tie-down points, one on the back tire with a strap, and the front one's gonna be a hook that hooks onto your tire. And what's important about that is it's gonna be able to accommodate a lot of different types of bikes, like your carbon frame bikes or a lot of alternative frame bikes. Another nice feature is it's ability to tilt away and to do that is pretty easy. more

Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains Installation - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Titan Chains Twist Link snow tire chains on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. We're gonna have them on our 235 65 R18 tires and it's gonna be situated on our front axle as per the owner's guide. Always make sure you check yours as well. One thing I would like to note is that the Highlander does have a lot of limited wheel well clearance, but I think these chains can be very nice if you do find yourself in areas with a lot of snow and maybe ice. In the manual it doesn't say it needs to have S class chains and honestly these are probably gonna be one of your better options if you do have a lot of snow in the area, you need something with a little bit more bite than your smaller chains. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we're gonna be talking about the Titan Chain's twist link snow tire chain with cams on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. We're gonna have these on our 235/65 R18 tires. And per the owner's manual we're gonna have 'em on the front axle. Now I'd always recommend checking what your owner's manual says as well. These chains are gonna be a good fit for the Highlander because they're a lot more low profile than a lot of the other chains we've done today since they are a twist links and they're a little bit lower profile, which means with our Highlander that has its limited wheel well clearance, we're still gonna have a decent amount of space back here. Taking a closer look at our twist links you can kind of see how they twist into one another and that's just gonna help you get more bite into the snow and some ice. more

I think this is gonna be a solid choice for the Highlander if you're look to haul any heavy E-bikes, and that's because this carrier can carry up to 70 pounds per bike holding up the two of them, and it's gonna have a lot of strap down points. It's gonna have two on the front, one on the back tire, and it's gonna have this very sturdy clamp on our frame. Now unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes because that clamp might damage the frame some. What I do like about this clamp though, is it can adjust on this center mast so it'll be able to accommodate a lot of different or alternative frames. more

Now I think this would be a great value option if you're looking for anything that's gonna be a hanging style that can carry up to four bikes. Especially if you're kind of going out with the family or you're going out with friends, it would be an easy way to kind of take all those bikes with you. Now, I wouldn't recommend taking any bikes that are carbon frame since we're gonna have three points of contact, and those contact points are gonna be on our frame. Now if you have any alternative frame bikes, I'd recommend probably getting a bike adapter bar just so you can adapt to those bikes being on there. more

What's also nice is you really don't even have to get on the ground to put 'em on there, You can pretty much put 'em on entirely from the kneeling position. Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we we're gonna be talkin' about the Yakima Skybox NX 16 rooftop cargo box on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. Now the Highlander does have a lot of space, especially in the back hatch area over here, but if you fill it up all the way with additional people in that third row, you might be very limited on the space. So if you're hauling any gear or luggage or camping supplies, this roof box is gonna be a great option to keep your items safe, secured, and kind of outta the way so you can fit more people in your vehicle. Now you won't be able to install the the sky box if you don't have a roof rack so always make sure you have a roof rack that is compatible with your roof box. Your sky box is gonna come with two included keys and that'll just be used to access your handle right up here just in that lock core. The nice thing about this roof box is you have two handles on each side so you can access it from either side and, to open it up, you just gotta push and you'll feel it lock in place with these hinge locks on the side. more

Yakima SkinnyWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be talk about the Yakima SkinnyWarrior on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. Now this is gonna be a great option if you really wanna save space on the other side of your vehicle for any other accessories like bike racks or kayak carriers, for anything else that mounts up top. So that's gonna be really nice if you wanna haul a lot of longer items, like two-by-fours or you maybe have golf clubs that kind of sit up there, it's gonna be a really good spot for those to fit. And as you can see up here, our carrier's only gonna take up less than half our total crossbar, and my crossbar is about 50 inches long, so that's very nice if you need to put on any additional accessories up top. And over here, where the total height is gonna add to our system, it's gonna add just about seven inches. So that's something to be mindful if it's unloaded and you're going in to any low clearance areas, you wanna fit in like a garage. more

Curt Roof Basket Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we're gonna be talking about a Curt roof mounted cargo basket on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. This is gonna be a great roof basket to get if you're just kinda looking to free up some extra space, maybe the back of your vehicle is pretty full or you want to go on a camping trip, you need to store your additional gear up top maybe because you don't want any dirt getting in the inside of your vehicle or you just need to free up that extra space this is gonna be a great way to get your gear to the spot. Our basket is gonna be able to hold up to 150 pounds. Now always keep in mind if you have any additional gear in that plus the weight of your basket and your roof rack, that's gonna add additional weight to your roof so always make sure to make sure what your roof can handle. It's also gonna be constructed from steel with a black powder coat finish. That just means it's gonna be very durable and that black powder coat finish is gonna help it be more corrosion resistant. more

Now this is gonna be a great option if you can't really fit any more stuff inside the back of your vehicle or you just don't want to just 'cause maybe it's a little bit dirtier, maybe has sand, water, snow on it, then you'll be able to store that up top so it's kind of away from everything else. Our carrier's gonna be made of steel, and it's gonna have a black powder coat finish to it. So since it's made of steel it's gonna be very durable, and it's gonna make for a lot of great hook ons points even from these thinner rungs. But since it is made of steel, anywhere that like it's kind of gets scratched and that black powder coat finish comes off that's gonna make it more susceptible to corrosion. more

Taking a closer look at our system, it's gonna be comprised of our 50-inch JetStream crossbars, our skyline towers, and our landing pad bases. Those are all gonna work together to kinda give you some extra space up top if you wanna carry any roof boxes or kayaks too. Our crossbars are gonna be made of aluminum with a black powder coat finish. It just means it's gonna be lightweight and corrosion resistant. Even though it's made of aluminum, it can still withhold 165 pounds. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, Matt with etrailer and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination four bike rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. This is gonna be a very versatile entry-level bike rack if you wanna haul four bikes. This is gonna have a maximum capacity of 35 pounds per bike and it's gonna have three strap down points. One's gonna be on each tire and the third one is gonna be attached to your frame. So since it is making frame contact we don't recommend any carbon frame bikes but since this is adjustable too, it's gonna be great if you wanna try to accommodate a lot of alternative frame bikes. Since this is an entry level bike rack, It doesn't have a tilt away feature but something I do like about how it interacts with the Highlander is we still have a lot of clearance in between the back of our vehicle and our bike. more

First impressions of this on the back of the Highlander, I could really see how this would be useful in a lot of different scenarios, especially on those long trips. Maybe you got the car fully loaded and you lose out on a lot of that cargo space and so you're gonna be able to put all those other things back here. Or especially, you know, if it's one of those deals where you have cargo that you don't necessarily wanna put inside of your vehicle, you can put it back here, or you have stuff that's kind of bulky, but you know, actually hooking up a separate trailer doesn't really, it's not really justified, so this is kind of that go-between and being completely covered, it goes a long way. Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Highlander- Video

Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris MHS Platform-Style Bike Rack here on our 2022 Toyota Highlander. Now, this style of bike rack is becoming more and more popular where you've got a long tray and these two wheel hoops that are holding the bike in place. And this one actually does a really good job of holding it, partially because we've got secondary points of contact at the back wheel with this wheel strap and with this block right here that kinda wedges against the front wheel, and that's gonna keep that movement in the front wheel down to a minimum. Some other racks of this style do have a bit more bike movement, they hold them well, but for some people, that peace of mind, myself included, of seeing your bike staying still on the rack is really nice, so that's a big plus for this rack. Something else you have is the ability to tilt it away with the bikes loaded. more
