EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Installation - 2020 Honda HR-V- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at eTrailer. Today on our 2020 Honda HR-V, we're gonna be showing you how to install the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver. But before we get to that, why don't we take a minute check this out and make sure it's gonna work for you. With the HR-V being a pretty compact vehicle you know you don't have a ton of room for extra stuff on the inside so it'd be nice to be able to use accessories back here and help kind of free up some space. So having a hitch is gonna allow you to do just set, you know, use a bike rack and things of that nature. Or maybe, you know if you're pulling a small trailer around maybe you got some kayaks or something, you know, you can use it for that and not have to deal with trying to put 'em on the roof and go through all that. more

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit Installation - 2018 Honda HR-V- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster direct connect base plate with removable arms on a 2018 Honda HRV. So here we have our base plate installed on our HRV. Now it does hide behind the actual grill, except for the necessity things that you need for towing. And that includes this spot here for your removable arms. So when you're ready to tow, these blob into place pretty easily with a twist. Now, when not in use, you simply pull this out, twist it, and it's nice and clean looking. more

Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2018 Honda HR-V- Video
Oh, neighbors it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo proportional braking system for flat tow vehicles. And we have it currently installed on a 2018 Honda HRV. Now, this is available in two different kits. You can get the wired version, which you will actually tie it into your connection right there, or a wireless version. The only difference between the two is on your wired system, you run an LED light here, and that way you can look in your rear view camera or your mirror of your RV and see the brake lighting up, when applied on the vehicle. more

Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar Installation - 2018 Honda HR-V- Video

Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars Installation - 2019 Honda HR-V- Video

We're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Thule Evo WingBar crossbar system here for our 2019 Honda HRV.So this is what our crossbar system is going to look like installed. Now, for starters, we actually have the black crossbars installed now, but it's also offered in a silver crossbar version as well, if you think that'll better match your vehicle. It's going to provide a very sleek, streamlined finish that actually installs into factory mounting points we have. Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Honda HR-V- Video
Hi there Honda owners. Today on your 2019 Honda HRV, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Curt's 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver. This hitch is a Class I 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 receiver with a reinforced collar here at the back that gives it a more robust look. But what I like about this hitch is how far it's tucked underneath the vehicle, because the cross tube is exposed under it. But since we keep everything sucks so far back, we don't really notice anything, but the receiver here sticking out the back.It uses a 1/2 inch hitch pin and clip. Now, one doesn't come included with the hitch, but we've got plenty available here etrailer.com. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Honda HR-V- Video
Hi there Honda owners. Today on your 2019 Honda HRV we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness. This is what our wiring harness looks like when it's installed. You can't really even tell that it's there because it's hidden underneath our spare tire compartment cover. And when you're ready to use it, you simply drape it over the back and it will pinch in between our weatherstripping holding it in place, you just want to make sure you avoid the striker here in the middle. Pinching it in the weatherstripping isn't going to cause any damage to it, it's actually just going to hold it in place for us and we can choose the amount of length that we need then hook up to our trailer.Our four pole flat connector here is going to provide us with all the necessary lighting that we'll need on our trailer, which includes our left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps, which will keep us DOD compliant in all States. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2017 Honda HR-V- Video
Shane: Hi, Shane here with etrailer.com, today, I'm going to walk through how installed Demco Stay-IN-Play duo supplemental braking system on your 2017 Honda HRV. Supplemental braking system is one of the seven main components to flat tow the HRV. The other six, are going to be your base plate, your tow bar, your wiring, your safety cables, and you're going to have two fuse bypasses that need to be installed. The braking system is a very important part of flat towing your vehicle. It's going to allow the vehicle to not only slow, but stop itself so that you're safe and legal, and it's going to be required in every single state, in any vehicle being flat-towed behind a motor home, supplemental braking system or the Stay-IN-Play duo is going to be a proportional system. What that means is when you apply the brakes in the RV, it's going to match the amount of pressure you're putting on the brakes inside the vehicle.So when you apply the brakes in an emergency situation, it's going to apply that same amount of pressure in the HRV. more

Adding this wiring kit to your vehicle allows you to tow your vehicle behind your motor home, to get those light signals from your motor home to transfer to the car, so you're not only legal but you're safe. This wiring kit is going to be one of the seven main components to flat tow this vehicle behind a motor home. Your other six are going to be your base plate, your tow bar, your safety cables, your braking system and you're going to have two fuse bypasses that you're going to need. Many of our HRV customers are going to primarily be using this hitch to carry accessories, things like a bike rack. And that's probably my favorite thing about it. If you're looking for a bike rack, that'll work good with this hitch, I'd recommend the Thule Helium Pro. And I say that because the Helium Pro is really lightweight and that's going to be able to save some weight and possibly carry some heavier bikes or not come close to maxing out your hitch. more

Many of our customers are probably going to be planning on using this hitch for a bike rack, and it's actually going to work great for that because it's going to offer us good clearance. That way, when we do have a hitch mounted accessory on the back, that folds up, we're not going to have to worry about it and making any contact with our back bumper and damaging our car while we go down the road.Now, what kind of separates this hitch from some of the others on the market, is that it's going to be just a little more hidden and not so visible. Now this is a class one hitch. So it's going to have that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Honda HR-V- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Honda HRV we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class One Custom Trailer Hitch Receiver. Part number is C11416.So, here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. The cross tube is going to sit just right below the bumper and it is going to be visible, but the main thing we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out.All right. Just going to give us an inch and a quarter by an inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, so it's going to be great for bike racks and some smaller cargo carriers.The way we're going to mount all of our accessories to the hitch pit hole here on the side, and it is going to accept a standard half inch pinning clip, and while these aren't included in the kit, you can pick them up here at etrailer.com.Now if you do plan on doing some light duty towing, our safety chain connection points are going to be a plate style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. And as you can see, we're not going to have too much trouble getting most side hooks on or off.As far as the weight capacity goes, our hitch is going to have a 200 pound tongue weight, which is the maximum downward pressure at the receiver tube. It's also going to have a 2,000 pound gross trailer rate rating, which is the amount it can pull including the trailer and everything we have loaded on it. more

Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Honda HRV we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the T-one vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector, part number 118673. Here's what our wiring looks like when it's fully installed. When we're not using it we can store it in our spare tire compartment so it's out of the way. Then whenever we're ready to use it we can simply pull it out, drop it down the bumper out of the hatch, the only thing is you want to stay away from the latch itself. Then we can go ahead and close our hatch and we'll be ready to hook up.The end of our wiring has a four-pole flat trailer connector and it's gonna give us all the required lights to get down the road safely such as our clearance lights, turn signals, and brake lights. Now our wiring kit does come with a pre-installed and built in dust cover which is gonna be nice to help keep out some of the dirt and debris from getting inside the connector.Now that we've seen what it looks like at the end result let's show you how we get it installed. more

Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HRV, we'll be having a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Class One Sportframe trailer hitch receiver, part number 24932. Now here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, our hitch is nice and tucked up underneath our fascia here, and the angular design of it helps conceal most of the frame. On the side our hitch, we have our industry-standard, half-inch diameter hitch pinhole to secure any of our hitch-mounted accessories. On the bottom of our hitch, in an angular plate that's welded onto the receiver and the frame, we have our safety chain loops. These are fairly large safety chain loops for a class one hitch, making it easy for us to hook up our safety chains from our trailer if we're using this for a trailer application. Now, our hitch features a nice, gloss black powder coat finish, which blends in nicely with our vehicle, help giving it a more finished and factory appearance. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Honda HR-V - Curt- Video
Today on 2016 Honda HR-V, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt Class I trailer hitch receiver, part number C11416. Here's what's this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, it maintains a pretty clean look to where it's nicely tucked up against the fascia on the underside there. It doesn't come too far out, but it does come out far enough to make sure you'll have plenty of clearance with just about any type of accessories you may want to put in here. Features the 1/2 inch hitch pinhole in order to secure any accessories that you may want to put in there, and it's got the 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch receiver tube opening with nice reinforcement collar to help give it that nice clean look, but also help reinforce to make sure it's sturdy here. It's got the steel plate-style safety chain connection point with good-size opening, so the majority of your safety chains, you should be able to get connected in here without really any problem. It mounts up with 3 attachment points, 2 on either frame rail, and 1 to the factory tow hook that's right on the underside here, and it's a pretty straightforward, easy installation. This hitch features a 200-pound max tongue weight rating and 2,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. more

Saris Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HRV we're going to be taking a look at the Saris Super Bones3-bike trunk mount rack with adjustable arms, part number SA802. This bike rack is secured to the two arms in three locations. We've got these two straps that come across the top here on the frame and then one here on the down tube that serves as an anti-sway strap to make sure that it doesn't swing too much and possibly hit one of the other bikes or the vehicle. Let's take our bike off there. To do that, you simply push down on the tab and the strips will release and you can pull them back through. (pause) we can take our bike off there and set that off to the side. One of the nice features about this is that with these arms being adjustable you are able to fold them down. Before we do that, let's take a measurement to see what the total distance added to the vehicle is with this rack on here. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HRV, we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima Halfback two bike trunk mount rack with adjustable arms, part #Y02636. On this bike rack it's secured to our two arms in 3 locations. We've got the two straps that go across the top here. Then one that is on the down tube of the bike here to serve as an anti-way strap to help prevent it from moving too much and not hit the bike next to it or the vehicle. Let's remove our bike. In order to do that you squeeze on the tabs on the sides of these straps. They're also called zip strips. more

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2016 Honda HR-V Y02634- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HRV we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima full back 2 bike trunk mount rack with adjustable arms, part number Y02634. On this trunk mount bike rack, the bike secured down in 3 locations. It's got 2 straps that go across the top at either arm, and then down on the side where we've got the down tube, it's got one more that serves as an anti-sway strap to make sure that the bike doesn't move too far either way in order to hit the other bike or possibly the vehicle. It also features an integrated cable lock that would attach out here at the end of this arm to that post right there. Let's remove our bike. In order to do that, you simply squeeze on the tabs on either side and remove these straps which are also called "zip strips". Then we can take our bike and set it off to the side. Once we're done, it's a good idea to replace the zip strips so they don't get lost or damaged. Now let's take a couple measurements to see what the total distance is added to the vehicle. Total distance added to the vehicle, you're looking about 29 inches. The arms on this bike rack are adjustable. more

Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HRV we're going to be taking a look at the 20 by 48 CURT cargo carrier, part number C18110. On this cargo carrier it features a steel mesh floor which is going to help keep it clean because that dirt and debris is going to fall through and won't be able to collect as easily on the bottom side of your cargo. Then here around the edge it's got this nice lip that's got some pre-drilled holes in locations all the way around it. That's going to help to make sure that you can tie your cargo down and keep it nice and secure on the carrier. Now let's take some measurements. First will be our ground clearance here at the back of the carrier. At the bottom of that bolt it's right about 14-3/4". more

Surco Products Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Honda HR-V- Video
Today on our 2016 Honda HR-V we're going to be taking a look at the 20 x 48 Surco Cargo Carrier, part number 52017. This cargo carrier features a steel mesh floor, which is going to help make sure that any dirt and debris falls through and doesnt collect here to where it can get on the bottom of your cargo. It also features a 300 pound capacity, and its got these braces that go across to help give it that capacity. It has a 300 pound capacity but this vehicle has a Class 1 hitch on it so you want to be sure to make sure that whatever you put on here doesnt exceed that tongue weight rating for the Class 1 hitch. This carrier also has a nice wall all the way around the outside. Its got plenty of room in order to put any cargo tie downs on to make sure that your cargo doesnt go anywhere. Now lets take a few measurements. more
