Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster 12-volt outlet kit on a 2025 Buick Encore GX. And this is gonna be a great addition and maybe even a required addition if you're using a portable braking system. Today we're putting the Blue Ox Patriot's braking system on our Encore, which is a great braking system, but in order to power it, you want 12-volt power that's constant and getting 12-volt power the entire time. While this vehicle does require a battery disconnect in order to flat tow it, the 12-volt outlet kit is run directly to the battery, so there's constant 12-volt power. And it's essentially just a cigarette-style lighter outlet. And it's gonna be a remote spot to where you mount it wherever you want and you'll always have the power to be able to plug in that braking system. more

So our 12 Volt Outlet Kit is gonna be required when we're using a portable braking system on our flat towed vehicle. Now a portable braking system is one such as the Blue Ox Patriot. It's gonna sit inside the driver foot well there and press on the pedal, using bracing from the back of the seat. And the reason we need a 12 Volt outlet kit for this braking system, is that the 12 Volt outlet in the center console there of the vehicle, is actually not powered while it's in tow mode. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. This will be a great additional outlet, should you need an outlet for a supplemental braking system that plugs into a 12 volt outlet or if you're going to put a spotlight, some kind of emergency light, or a cell phone. You can locate this anywhere this in your car you'd like, as long as it's on the inside of the vehicle and it's going to be good for up to a 20 amp drop. There's going to be a very simple install. You're going to have a ground wire and you're going to tap into a fuse that's hot on your vehicle at all times. This is going to give us constant power even when our battery's disconnected in tow mode so you want to make sure if you leave something plugged in there, it can run your battery low so keep an idea of what you've got to have plugged in there. more

Note, thisll be a supplemental outlet kit that could be used for a variety of things, but for this application well be using it for a braking assist on a towed vehicle. This will allow the supplemental power supply to have battery power when the vehicle is not in use. Well move inside the vehicle. Well be mounting our power outlet on the drivers side near the kick panel, just below the dashboard and interior paneling. The power wire will get run over to the passengers side, where we can install it into the fuse box, and the ground can stay here on the drivers side. Theres a manufacturers ground above the parking brake actuator and kick panel. more

Now one of the reasons why you may want a 12-volt outlet kit, is if you want to flat tow your Silverado because once you start doing some research, you'll find out real quickly that your Silverado is going to have to have the battery disconnected or at least have the power cut off to flat tow it. And it's all fine and good, but if we have the power cut off, there's no way to get power to our braking system especially if it's a portable system. Today in this 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 crew cab we're going to install part number RM-9332. This is a Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit ready for 20 amps. To help us install this part we're also going to use a couple other part numbers. We'll be using snap bushing part number SWC8055. We're going to need to extend our wires as well, so we'll be using part number 12-2-1 the jacketed two wire brake wire in 12 gauge. Now the first thing we need to do is go ahead and get access from the inside to the outside. To do that we're going to go ahead and drill a hole behind our carpet here or just above where our parking brake cable goes through the body. more

This outlet connects directly to the battery so we can make sure that we get direct power and were not trying to fight through any fuses that may or may not get shut off when in tow mode. This outlet is nice and simple to use. As soon as you plug something into it youve got power. Even if you need an extra outlet on your car this will work perfectly for that. Its nice and easy to tuck out of the way or when not in use you can simply bundle it out. more
Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit, rated at 20 amps, part number RM-9332. Here's what this 12-volt outlet is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, it comes down from inside this fuse panel, and that makes it nice, because it's very easy to tuck away so that it can't be seen and isn't always visible. Then you can bundle it up, and you can use a zip tie or rubber band if you'd like. You bundle it up, and can just tuck it away when not in use, and that way, your vehicle maintains a very clean look. In this vehicle, since it's going to be having a portable braking system, it's right there and easy to access whenever you need it. Now, this is also very useful if you just want an extra 12-volt outlet in the vehicle for charging a phone or something like that. more

So we ran this separate one here, making it easy to plug in, and also run directly to the battery. Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Honda CR-V we're going to be installing Roadmaster's 12 Volt Outlet Kit, part number RM-9332.This 12 volt outlet kit is going to give you a quick interface to work with your typical automobile auxiliary connectors. You can hook it up however you'd like. You could have it so it's powered all the time regardless of your ignition switch position, or you could wire it up to one of your ignition switch positions, whether it be accessory or run position. Depending how you have it wired up, it can be used for a lot of different things. Currently, ours is wired up to be powered all the time, and we're using it in our flat tow setup to ensure that our braking system always has power and is operational.Now, there are some other things you may want to use it for. Let's say you've got a set of seat heaters that you installed in your vehicle, aftermarket seat heaters that run off these, and you want inaudible 00:00:51 seat heater make sure that it turns off when you shut your vehicle off so it doesn't drain your battery. more

Today on our 2010 Honda CRV we'll be taking a look at installing the 20 amp 12 volt out-leg kit, part number RM-9332. Now we have our 12 volt power ready to use whenever we need it for our auxiliary braking system for our towed vehicle. Now when we don't have any use you can put it up here in the holder or we can also place it down back underneath the back side of the stream panel making sure that it doesn't fall down while we're driving. On one end we're going to have our fuse and spade connector and on the other end we're going to have to make ground around that ring terminal there. Both of the pieces that we're going to need are going to be included in the kit. So right now we're going to find a fuse that has power going through it so we can run our constant power towards our 12 volt circuit. So go up underneath the dash and locate that fuse panel that's sitting right here right above this kick panel on the side. Now we're just going to locate a fuse, it gives us the ability to draw power when our key is not in the ignition. more

Today, on 2015 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to show you 12-volt outlet kit from road-master, part number RM-9332. Now this is good for a variety of applications. In this case, this vehicle need a future upgrade to a supplemental braking system that requires it's own power supply from the battery. With this part number this is what you get. You get the wire horse, with the outlet for your 12-volt accessories, and the other end that goes to your ground, and your fuse holder right here. This comes with small self tap screw for the ground, and this is also a fuse tap. For a lot of instances, you actually tap into the fuse box to get power from. Basically, that connects up to circuit as power constantly with the key on or off. Now, on our install we are actually going to run this straight to the battery. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster 12-volt outlet kit, rated at 20 amps, on a 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Installation of a 12-volt outlet is super easy, you're essentially just gonna be running the outlet inside the vehicle so you can get constant power even when the vehicle's in flat tow mode. So for our instance, this works really well with a portable braking system. So really all we're gonna do is take the wires from that outlet, run it through the firewall, and we are gonna be extending our wires to get to the battery, but we just tie off the positive terminal, and the other wire goes to a ground, and then you'll have that constant 12-volt power even in that flat tow mode. A lot of times in this kit people will use the fuse tap, which also works pretty well. You already have a spade connector and it does come with a clip to allow you to do that, but we've found that most of the times we want to get this specifically to the battery, not off of fuses, because when some vehicles are in flat tow mode, it cuts power to a lot of different auxiliary electronics, and so going directly off the battery means that it's always gonna have that power, and when it comes to our braking system, that's what we're gonna be doing. more

For this application, the battery is located under the passenger seat. If we lift up on the battery cover to get to the back half of the battery, we're going to go ahead and move the seat all the way forward and towards the dash. Release the cover and set it aside. You can see we've now exposed the battery. We're going to go ahead and open up the console, the lower portion of our console here. We can remove the rubber liner. more
Setting Up Your Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit - 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L- Video
Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the 12-volt outlet kit on our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. These 12-volt outlets are gonna have a constant power supply to the battery, so even when your vehicle's off, you still have power to this. And these are most commonly used for braking systems, so you still have power when you're flat towing your vehicle. The wire simply comes through our firewall, it gets grounded to somewhere on the vehicle, and then that power wire is routed all the way to our positive post on our battery. This kit does have an in-line fuse already attached to it, so it'll keep your portable braking system safe. Now getting into the install, this is super easy. more

Today on our 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Road Master 12 volt outlet kit, part number RN-9332.So here's what our 12 volt outlet kit is going to look like once we have it installed. We decided to tuck ours away underneath the dash, that way it's out of the way, but still accessible when we want to plug something in. This is going to provide us with 12 volts of power, whether the key is on or off. Which is going to be great for powering a portable braking system, whenever we flat tow our Jeep.Now we do have a 12 volt built into the dash, however, this is only going to get power when the key is in the run position, which isn't really going to help out a lot when we're powering our portable braking system, because the key is going to be off in our Jeep.Our kit is going to come with five feet of wires, so we can route it from the inside all the way to the battery. But keep in mind, it's probably a good idea to pick up some extra wire, plug connectors and ring terminals, because we we're just a little bit short on reaching the negative terminal on our battery.The instillation is going to be extremely straight forward. We're just going to have two wires to hook up and one bracket to mount. more

This includes phone chargers, braking systems, or any of your other accessories. The kit come with a mounting bracket, as well as the outlet itself and all the wiring you need to plug it up. You can plug it up directly to battery power, which will allow it to be functional all the time even when the vehicle is off or if you'd like, you can use the provided fuse tap that comes in the kit and hook it into a fuse that only has power when it's in the accessory or run position. This will give you a lot of different options for however you want this fuse.One example where you might want it for when it's only in the accessory or run position is for aftermarket seat heaters.
