Today on our 2015 Acura TLX we're doing a test fit of the CURT roof mounted cargo basket. This is 41-1/2" long by 37" wide by 4" deep, and has a 150 pound weight capacity. That part number is C18115. Now although it does have a 150 pound weight capacity you do want to check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure it can withstand that much weight. We already have three of our four mounts secured down. We've got our fourth space here, how we would replace that to put it in different slats is we would just pop it out and move it to the different sections to accommodate different crossbar spreads. more

Today on our 2016 Audi Q5, we're going to be test fitting the Curt roof mounted cargo basket, part number C18115. This has a carrying capacity of 150 pounds so that you want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure it can withstand that weight. It measures 41 1/2 inches long by 37 inches wide by 4 inches deep. How it grips around the actual crossbars, we have these rubber coated U-bolts and these knobs here on the top that you'll just simply tighten down. With the last one open, we'll go ahead and show you how that works. One of the great things about this cargo basket is it provides you the ability to put up camping equipment, sporting equipment, even luggage to free up space on the inside for your family and it makes things a little bit easier to move around inside. It measures 41 and a half inches long, by 37 inches wide, by four inches tall.This has plenty of space to store your sporting goods, camping gear, whatever you wanna keep out from inside the vehicle, or just regular luggage when you're going on a travel.It does not come with a strap to tie everything down, you can buy those separately at etrailer.com, and with everything installed as it is, we're not gonna have an issue of clearance between our rear hatch and the cargo basket. As you can see here, there's plenty of space.It's very easy to install. It uses simply a U-bolt and two tie-downs 00:00:50. You wrap it up underneath here, take our metal bracket, put it on top, and we'll take our two turn knobs and install those.Turn it down until it's nice and tight. more

Our cargo basket is made of steel with a black powder coating, which just means it's gonna be more durable and weather-resistant. Now when loading the roof rack, or excuse me, the roof mounted cargo basket on your roof, it's always a good idea to make sure you leave enough room so you can still open your rear hatch. The Curt Cargo Basket is great for solving those problems such as not enough space inside our Grand Caravan, or we need to make more space in our Grand Caravan by loading up our luggage, sporting goods, or camping gear up on the roof.There's plenty of space for storage with the cargo basket being 41 1/2 inches long by 37 inches wide and by 4 inches tall. That four inches is consistent all the way around the cargo basket unlike some others which can have that kind of curve to it so you lose a little bit towards the rear. This can carry up to 150 pounds of cargo, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand those weights and go by its recommendation. Also, traveling with these cargo baskets or pretty much anything on your roof, you're going to encounter a lot of noise while you drive. So if you guys are looking for a way of just getting a little bit of that cargo out of your vehicle and on top of your roof, this is definitely gonna be an excellent way to do it. What's nice about it We're not gonna be breaking the bank, but we're still getting a very nice secure way of going ahead and latching on our cargo, that way it's with us whenever we get to our destination. Now the Ford Edge here doesn't have the worst cargo management out there I think it has a pretty decent back end of course, but as soon as you load up four people in a vehicle, it quickly fills up, especially, you guys are finding yourself on a longer road trip or something like that, especially fitting all the snacks in, so this is an excellent way of getting that bulky cargo out of there, freeing up some space. Secondly, it's really good for anything like sports activities, if we do have those big old gym bags or sets of football gear, soccer, whatever, baseball, we're setting in all that soiled linens on the inside of the vehicle, can definitely get a little musty, kind of get that smell, right. more

It's gonna be a good option for you if maybe you have your whole family in the car or you just don't want some of the items that you're keeping in there, they might be sandy or muddy and you'd rather get them out onto the roof, it's gonna be a good option for you. The carrier is rated for 150 pounds of weight capacity, but with something like this, it's always a good idea to check with your crossbars, the feet and your roof, to make sure that they all have a weight capacity that supports that and go by the lowest rated component. The internal dimensions of the carrier are 41 and a half inches by 37 inches around and four inches deep. If you need a little bit more space, there is an add-on that lets you get 21 more inches of length. more

As you can see here, we've got it in the right spot, we don't have to worry about that problem. We can still open up our rear hath all the way. A few things to know about this roof mounted basket, is it has a sturdy steel tubular construction design to it, it's a little bit boxier than your average roof mounted cargo basket but, that's okay. It's going to fit crossbars up to 3 inches wide, and it will fit crossbars with 3 different crossbar spreads; either 15 inches, 22, or 29 inches. Our demonstration model has been in our studio for a while and it's been putting up to a lot of our abuse, and as you can see, it's not very bad condition at all as far as breaking through to bare metal. Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Hyundai Tucson, we're gonna be test fitting the Curt Roof-Mounted Cargo Basket. Part number C18115. The Curt Cargo Carrier is great for carrying your luggage, your camping gear, or your sporting goods equipment, anything you want to keep out from inside the vehicle, or to make more space for your Tucson.And with everything installed, it's not gonna interfere with your rear hatch. As you can see, there's plenty of space in between. There are plenty of tie-down points with all these rails on the cargo basket, however, the straps do come separately, although you can purchase those at etrailer.com.And there's plenty of space to store your luggage up top with dimensions of 41 1/2 inches long by 37 inches wide, 5/4 inches deep. Now you can add an additional 21 inches with the extension that's sold separately.It does have the faring up at the front which will cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive, although with everything loaded up, it will still produce some noise.Right now we have it attached to aero bars, but this will work with square, round, elliptical, and with most factory roof rack systems, as well. more

Now, if you'd like you can also pick up an extension which adds an extra 21". If you'd like a bigger basket, feel free to pick up the extension with part number C18117. A few things you need to know about this roof basket is it's made out of serious steel construction with a black powder coat finish, so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. It's got a boxier shape than most roof baskets, which is okay. more

Now guys, of course, a lot of cargo space here in the Grand Cherokee, however, you start finding yourself piling everybody on the inside, filling up those seats and taking over that little bit of a limited cargo space in the back. It can be nice to go ahead and grab ourselves a little bit more room for that cargo. So, of course, this can be a great little pickup if you find yourself doing a lot of road tripping and one of those big items up there. If you have a model Sorento like this one with the third row, if you have that row up, you practically have eliminated all your inside space, so you can make use of the negative space on top of your vehicle by adding a basket. Our basket's made of powder coated stainless steel and that's gonna be a nice medium-sized basket for your bigger bulkier items. Your dimensions are gonna be 42 and 1/2, 37 wide, and it stands about four inches high, as far as your usable space. Now, as far as the distance from the bottom of the, well, sorry, the roof of the vehicle, the lowest point would be your U-bolt and your right at three inches. more

Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket on our 2022 Mazda CX9. Now, a rooftop cargo basket like this is going to have a perfect opportunity to maybe carry around some of those larger items like skis or snowboards or some of those messier items, like mulch or fertilizer that you don't wanna necessarily dirty up the inside of your car. This one especially does have some tall walls, so I would say stuff like maybe luggage would be a little more secure in here, knowing that it is kind of sitting further down, recessed into the basket. Our basket is going to take up a majority of our 50-inch crossbar spread, but I think that's more than perfectly acceptable for something like this. Usually the purpose of it is to max out the available space on top of your roof to carry around some additional items. more
