Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer, today, we're gonna be checking out our best trailer brake controller options for the 1997 Ford F250 and F350 heavy-duty pickup trucks. When it comes to picking out a trailer brake controller, there's a ton of different options out there that are available, and you know, I feel like what one's gonna be best for your truck is really just going to depend on how you plan on using it. You know, for those of you that have one of these, it might just kind of be your farm truck, you pull a trailer around occasionally, your needs are gonna be different than, you know, some other people who might use it more regularly, and tow a lot of different trailers around, and things like that. And so what I did, I grabbed a handful of trailer brake controllers that are going to kind of cover all those different needs, you know, from very simple, to more complicated, if you will. These two that I laid out here are both made by Redarc. It's gonna be the Tow-Pro Elite, and this one will be the Tow-Pro Liberty. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best suspension enhancements for your 1998 Ford F-150, F-250 and F-350. Here we're going to have a leaf spring style helper spring followed by your airbag helper springs, and then over here we're going to have a jounce-style helper spring, and this is going to be our lower overload helper spring. Then finally on the end, this is going to be upper overload helper springs. Each one of our types of suspension enhancements are going to do the same thing. When we're carrying a heavy load, or hauling a heavy trailer, they're going to prevent the back end of our truck from sagging, causing more strain on the suspension as well as lifting of the front end, creating less contact for our tires and not a safe driving condition. They're all going to help prevent all those things from happening, so let's take a closer look at some of the benefits from each one. Our helper leaf springs here are not only going to give us that load leveling support, but they're also going to give us a little bit of anti-sway because of the way they're going to mount. more

Installing the TorkLift Tie Downs on your 1997 Ford F-250 and F-350 Heavy Duty

Today on our 1997 Ford F250 Heavy Duty, we're going to be installing the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs for the rear of the vehicle, part number TLR3501. Here's the tie-down receiver that we're going to need to mount to our vehicle's hitch. You want to try to put it as far back on the hitch in the vehicle as possible, but yet you also have to keep in mind that you want to make sure it doesn't interfere with things. Like back here, we wouldn't able to drill our four holes, but right in this area here, on the other side we have plenty of room to drill through and not hit anything, as well as to install our hardware. We also want to make sure that the insert right here, when you put the insert into your receiver, that it will clear the body of the vehicle, which it will. We're going to go ahead and hold our piece up into position. We're going to take a paint marker and mark the four holes that we'll need to drill. Now when drilling out the holes, we will use the step drill bit method by starting smaller and then working our way up to a 7/16ths drill bit. more

We'll then go ahead and take our wire strippers, strip back a little bit of wire in each. Now that we have our duplex wire ready, let's go ahead an show you what we'll be connecting to. Now you can see here on this vehicle, there is already a 7-way kit installed, so we already have our blue wire and our black wire coming off the backside. So our blue wire will run up for our brake control signal, and this black wire here is for a 12-volt hot that is part of the 7-way. more
