Review of the SportRack Escape 3 Hitch Bike Rack on a 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon

Today, on our 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon, we'll be test-fitting the SportRack Escape 3 Bike Rack for both 1 1/4 and 2-inch hitches, part number A30403. Now, with our included adaptor already installed on the shank, we'll slide the shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pinhole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With the bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 1/2 inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack mast to the back of the vehicle is 4 inches. We'll now go ahead and pull the pin here at the bottom of the mast to allow the mast to tilt down.

We can then open our cargo door. As you can see, we can gain access to the cargo area with this bike rack installed. We'll now pull the pin here at the top of the mast which will allow us to bring out the dual arms. We can then undo the straps to expose the cradles. We'll place the bike into the cradles and bring the straps around securing our bike to the bike rack.

That's it. Our bike is loaded and we're ready to head on down the road. That completes our test fit of the SportRack Escape 3 Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Rack, part number A30403, on our 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon.
