Today on this 2010 Chevrolet Equinox we are going to install part number 90145 from Hidden Hitch. This will also apply to part number 36408 from Draw-Tite. The first thing we need to do on our Chevrolet Equinox is remove this little knockout on the bottom of the bumper, this little fascia. Take this off to give us room to put the hitch into place. Looking underneath the passenger side of the vehicle, these are the two holes that we are going to attach the hitch to. 00:39
It is a good idea to spray them down a little with some lubricant and get some of the dust and grime out of there. Give it a test fit with your bolts first. Make sure they thread in and out okay. If they have some junk in there you can use a nylon tube brush to help clean out the threads too. This brush is part number 814092. We will clean out all of the bolt holes that we have on the vehicle, these two on the side and plus the two on the bumper. 01:09
At this point we can start installing the hitch on to the vehicle and it is a good idea to have an extra set of hands to help hold it up so make sure the center tab goes up underneath the bumper around the plastic and then we will put the hitch in position and just get one of the bolts started to hold it up there. Leaving the hitch loose we will work the other bolts into place. We are just going to get them started. Leave them loose and we are going to do that on both sides of the vehicle. With the hitch still loose so we can move it around we will install the bolts that go into the bumper structure. 01:42
Now that we have got all of our bolts started we can snug them down and then torque them down as specified in the instructions. When you tighten the center bolts up you can see how the hitch will pull itself into position. You can see with the hitch installed how the bumper fascia we had to take off has to stay off so there is room for the hitch. We have got the vehicle off the ramp, now we will give you a couple of hitch measurements to use on certain hitch accessories. From the top of the receiver tube down to the ground is 14-1/ 2 inches. From the center of the hitch pin hole out to the edge of the bumper is going to be 5-1/ 2 inches. With that, that already finishes our install of part number 90145 from Hidden Hitch.
