Speaker: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars. These are going to have the Matte Black finish. These are going to be sleek, low-profile, crossbars that's going to let you build an aftermarket roof rack for your vehicle, that way you can easily haul your roof mounted accessories. Now, the bars are going to require Rhino Rack legs and a custom fit kit depending on your vehicle. Those items are sold separately. If you're in need of those, you can find them here at etrailer.com. The bars, they are going to be a slim, elliptical crossbar shape that's really going to help create an extremely aerodynamic system.
The full length bar is going to do a great job at extending past the roof rack legs which is going to help maximize the amount of space that you have for carriers and accessories. This bar design is going to feature a top channel that runs right in the center of the bar. That's going to let you add channel-mounted carriers and accessories. Then, you can still use these bars with clamp-on accessories, they just mount conveniently around the bars. The bar is designed to set most roof mounted accessories that are designed for aero and elliptical roof racks. That channel is going to have a rubberized Vortex strip in the top channel that's really going to help reduce drag and wind noise.
It's got a really nice wave design that's really going to cut through the wind and that's going to break up that noise that sometimes we get with a typical roof rack system. They're also going to assist in keeping dirt and grime out of the crossbars and they're going to provide cushioning and slip resistance for the cargo. To gain access to that channel, all you have to do is remove the end cap. Then, that rubber strip is actually broken into smaller pieces, that way you don't have to remove the entire strip. Just remove the section that you need so you can see there how they pull apart. You can trim these, you can cut them, you can put slits in them, whatever is going to work best for your particular application.
Then, they're really easy to get back in place, you can slide them around. I find it easiest to just go ahead and push them back down into the grooves until it's laying flushed with the actual bar. On the bottom of the bar, we're going to have bottom channels, that's these right here. These are going to allow easy installation to the Rhino Rack Roof legs. These are actually going to be rulers that are sitting in here. There's the channel, it does not go to the full length of the bar and then you're going to have these rulers.
It's going to be measured in millimeters which is going to collaborate with the instructions that would come with your fit kit. But these are designed to take up that space in there so that way we don't get a lot whistling or noise as we go down the road. The rulers in the channels are going to help center your crossbar in your roof and help ensure proper leg placement for your vehicle. When you install the leg kit, the rulers will need to be cut. Once the leg kit is installed in this bottom channel, you can place the remaining strips on either side to fill up that gap or to fill up the space which is going to further reduce wind noise during travel. The bars are going to include two end caps, one for each side. For each bar you get, you're going to get two end caps with that bar. The end caps are going to have plastic lock cores with universal keys to deter theft of your accessories. That's this little piece right here. As you can see right now, we can easily remove. If we want to move it to locked position, we'd take the plastic universal key, move it to the locked position and that's going to keep it from coming out. If you want more security, what you can do is you can actually upgrade from the plastic lock cores to metal lock cores. Your metal lock cores are sold separately. You can find those right here at etrailer.com. But the bars are going to be made from a lightweight, structural grade, anodized aluminum construction that's going to be corrosion resistant as well as rust resistant. The bars are unique. They feature this nice internal H-shaped extrusion that's going to provide exceptional bar strength. When it comes to the weight capacity of the bars, we're looking at a 165 pounds when used as a two-bar system. You always want to be sure so refer to your vehicle's owner's manual to check the roof capacity of your particular vehicle. When it comes to the dimensions of the bar, take a look at the over-all width first, it's going to measure 3 1/8 of an inch, and then the over-all height is going to give us a measurement of 1 3/16 of an inch. When it comes to the length of the bars, those are going to vary. Here at etrailer.com, we offer different lengths of the Rhino Rack bars. They're going to be available in 41", 44", 49", 54", 59", 65" and 71" lengths. Rhino Rack really stands behind their products. They're actually going to put an aluminum lifetime warranty on their bars. That's going to do it for today's look at the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars with the Matte Black finish.
