Review of Rackem Wheel Chocks RA-17

Today we're going to taking a look at the Rackem manufacturing removable wheel chock. The wheel chock is going help stabilize your motorcycle, dirt bike, or other small vehicle for transport. The chock itself is going to remove to free up space when not in use, just leaving the base installed in the floor of your trailer, or whatever your mounting location is. The unit's going to feature tubular steel construction, it's going to create strong, durable, system. It's going to have that extreme wear hammered paint finish, which is going to protect the chock from abuse. That's a simple bolt on installation. You would simply attach the base to the floor of the trailer, you could also attach it to the floor of your shop, or anywhere else you want to use it.

Mounting hardware to get the base installed is not included. The units going to contain mounting holes. It does come with two wing nut style bolts, to get the chock installed to the base, that's these right here. When you're ready to remove the chock, all you have to do, is take these wing nut style bolts and remove them, just like that. Then you would talk the chock, slide it up, and then remove it from the holds here on the base.

Really nice design, so when this is removed, this is going to be the only portion that's going to be remaining at the mounting location. When you're ready to use the chock, simply slide it back into those holds, push it back, and then reinstall the wing nut style bolts. The base where these are threading in, has the threads built in, so it does not require a nut on the bottom side. It allows for quick and easy attachment and detachment of the chock to the base. Really nice design. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. If we take a measurement from the bottom of the base tot he top of the chock, measuring to this point here, that's going to give us a measurement of about 8 9/16 of an inch tall.

From front to back, the unit is going to give us a measurement, to this point here, of 13 1/4 of an inch. This is designed to fit tire widths up to 6 1/2 inches wide. The mount holes on the unit, measuring these right here, these are going to be separated on center, on each mounting brace. That looks to measure 1 1/8 of an inch, and these holes are going to have a diameter of 1/4 of an inch. From the center of one mounting brace to the center of the other, going this direction, that's going to give us a measurement of about 8 1/4.

Then if we measure across, going this direction, from the center of mount hole, to the center of the mount hole on the other side, that's going to give a measurement of 9 3/4 of an inch. The base, that's going to give us an overall width measurement of 10 1/2 inches, by 10 1/4. That's going to do it for today's look at the Rackem manufacturing removable wheel chock.
