Review of Optronics Trailer Lights ILL35CB

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Optronics LED dome light. This is a low-profile rectangular dome light that's going to add bright white light for your trailer's interior. It's going to feature durable surface mount technology when it comes to the construction of the LED circuit board. What that does is it better withstands shock and vibration and it's going to allow for improved heat distribution. This is an LED system. LEDs make great replacements for incandescent lights.

They're going to last much longer. They burn brighter. They're more efficient, and you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. The housing on the unit is made from a sturdy plated steel construction. It's going to feature a polycarbonate lens. We're going to have white LEDs.

There's going to be 10 of those. This is a recessed mount installation. You've got this little portion right here that kind of sticks out from the back side of the light. Hardware is not included. It's going to have 4 mount holes.

You gain access to those by removing the 2 screws here on the lens. ON the back side you'll see it's a 2-wire design, so it's going to provide your white wire and your black wire. White is ground, black is power. When it comes to the overall dimensions, we're going to take a look at the overall length first. We can see from edge to edge it's about 5-3/4 of an inch. When it comes to the width we're looking at about 2-3/4 of an inch.

The depth, measuring from very back to very front, that's about 15/16ths of an inch. When we have this installed, measuring from the back of this piece here to the front is about 3/4 of an inch deep. Mount hole separations, center on center, going this direction we're looking at 1-3/4 of an inch. Then going this direction, center on center, those holes are going to be separated by abou5 4-11/16th of an inch. The recess area, that gives us a length measurement of about 4-1/8th by 1-5/8ths. To be safe, I'd say 1-3/4 of an inch right in that area. Again, the light is going to contain 10 diodes or 10 LEDs. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to power. That way you can see what it looks like with power running to it. We'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights so you can see it in a low light setting. We'll just get our wires connected here. The multi-diode design is really going to help optimize our light output. Again, it's got 10 LEDs. The effective lumen output is 53 lumens. The raw lumen output is 70 lumens. The power draw at 12.8 volts is 0.024 amps, and Optronics puts a lifetime warranty on these LEDs. That's going to do it for today's look at the Optronics LED dome light.
