Review of HWT Tires and Wheels TTWAL06865HDB

Today, we're going to review part number TTWAL06865HDB. This is the HWT 16 inch by 7 inch black aluminum Hi-Spec Series 06 trailer wheel with the 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this is a heavy-duty aluminum wheel which is very durable, lightweight, and rustproof. This is the Hi-Spec Series 06 design with the black accent, very unique and appealing, and as you notice, on the 06 design has a 7 spokes. Face of the spoke and the edge of the lip of the spoke is a machine finish. Gives a nice shine, and in between the spokes is accented with black and it has a nice center cover plate to cover the lugs.

Makes it a clean appearance. Now, the front and the back of the wheel are all clear coated to help protect it from corrosion. This wheel does use the ICF technology which is improved clamp force. This will help keep your wheel securely in place, so there's really no need to retorque it after your initial installation. I mentioned the center cap is included. Also, comes with a metal valve stem because this is a heavy-duty wheel with the high weight capacity, and it does require the metal valve stem for the higher pressures. This is a high quality wheel, meets the Department of Transportation specifications.

The measurements on this wheel. Let me show you how this cap comes off here. I want to show you that first. It's held in by a Phillips head screw, and if you just unscrew that screw, it will allow you to remove the center cap. Go ahead and take the screw out, and I just want to show you on the cap, easily comes off.

Now, you can see your 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and your pilot hole, but on the cap the thing you want to make sure is there's a tab right here which is about 180 degrees from where the bolt hole is. When you go to install this, you'll see here's where the bolt hole will screw in, and that line's up there. Right across from there, there's a little notch in one of the spokes. That's where that tab goes, so you want to make sure that tab goes in that notch and then go ahead and put your screw in to hold it in place. That will keep that cap from turning or moving. Keeps it securely in place. Few specs on this, the diameter on this wheel is 16 inches.

The width is 7 inches, and when you do those measurements, if you want to measure them, you're going to be measuring where the tire beads would seat. When the tire is mounted on this wheel, the beads will seat right here on the wheel. When you measure the diameter, you're going to measure inside to inside, and then when you measure the width, same way inside to inside. Basically if we take a tape measure and if we put it on the inside to inside, we'll be able to see it's right at 16 inches for the diameter of the wheel, and on the width inside to inside, will be 7 inches, so 16 inches by 7 inch. Now, the bolt pattern on this wheel is a 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern, and on a wheel if you want to measure the bolt pattern on a wheel that has an even number lugs, in this case 8, all you have to do is measure from the center of 1 bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. Let me try to do that, and we'll see if we can get a measurement for you. Because the holes are recessed, it's hard to . it will go here to here, and as you can see, center to center will be right at 6-1/2 inches, so 8 lug 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of 0.5 inch by 20 or a 9/16th by 18. The pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center of the wheel goes over the hub on your trailer. If we put a ruler on that, that is going to measure right at 4.9 inches for the pilot hole diameter, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 3960 pounds. Again, we're just going to put the cap back on. Like I mentioned, here's the tab. We'll just go ahead and put that in there. Lines the hole up. Go ahead and put your Phillips screw in there. Take your screwdriver and just go ahead and tighten it down. Now, this is a plastic cap, so you want to make sure when you do tighten this down that you just snug it up. You don't need to over-tighten it as you don't want to damage the cap. Once you get it snug down, you can see the cap won't go anywhere, won't rotate, stays right in place. That should do it for the review on part number TTWAL06865HDB. This is the HWT 16 inch by 7 inch black aluminum Hi-Spec Series 06 trailer wheel with the 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
