Would a Boat Trailer VIN Ever Be Only 6 Digits Long

Question:

i can only find 6 stamped numbers for a vin,is it possible that a 1970s boat trailer would only have 6 digits for a vin???????

The VIN of a trailer should be much longer than 6 numbers/letters. I attached a picture that shows how to decode a VIN for you to check out to give you a better idea on what they typically look like.

It sounds like you may have found just the serial number for the trailer. I would recommend you keep looking. Otherwise you might need to apply for a new VIN with your local DOT if you can't find it.
