Does the Hopkins Agility Brake Controller have to be Mounted Level

Question:
I mounted it side ways does it make a difference also when no trailer is attached does the led display anything when I apply brakes?

Yes it does make a difference. You need to have the Hopkins Brake Controller # HM47295 that you have leveled side to side otherwise it won't work right. It won't be able to sense when the vehicle is decelerating properly unless it's leveled correctly. Check out the picture I attached that I took from the installation instructions for this controller that show how it should be leveled.
If the controller does not sense a trailer connection the display will be blank.
