I see that the wires are 16 gauge and I guess the center wire is also if so would that not be a bit small for the charge wire I run from our coach to the toad, the wire from the coach is a 12 and to the toad battery a 12 also and of course fused.

I spoke to my contact at Hopkins and confirmed that all of the wires in the Hopkins Heavy-Duty Trailer Coiled Extension # HM47055 that you referenced are 16 gauge.
He said that in most cases the 16 gauge would be okay for the 12 volt power circuit, unless you have something that will draw a great deal of amperage. Then you would want to use something with 12 gauge wire.
The RoadMaster 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Cord Kit # RM-1466 uses 12 gauge and 14 gauge wires so it might be a better solution for you if you need the thicker gauge wire.
