Since a custom wiring harness is not available for your 2005 BMW Z4 2.5i e85, I suggest that you contact your local dealer to determine what type of tail light wiring is on your vehicle. Some vehicles use Pulse Width Modulation, which is a particular wiring system where instead of having a single wire for each different circuit, PWM will use the same wire for two or more circuits by using varying pulses for different functions. Some vehicles also use a multiplex wiring system which means it sends multiple signals along the same wire.
Although it has not been specifically tested on the 2005 BMW Z4, I recommend going with the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT, due to it being the most universal. This wiring harness has been confirmed to work with vehicles using multiplex wiring as well as PWM.
