Easy-to-Remove Ball Mount for a 2026 Ford F-150

Updated 10/16/2026 | Published 10/13/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 F-150 and switch between a utility trailer and a hitch bike rack pretty often. The trailer weighs about 4,000 pounds loaded with 400 pounds on the tongue. I need a 2-inch ball and 2-inch drop. Is there something easier than fighting with the hitch pin every time?

Hey Adam! For your needs I recommend the BTBRV InstaLatch # BTBRV006. This has the 2" ball and 2" drop you're looking for, and its built-in pins engage your receiver without having to slide a separate hitch pin through. The release plate makes it easy to pull the mount back out when you’re ready to install your bike rack. Just secure the release with the included wire lock pin before towing.

Since it doesn't have a standard hitch pin, you can add the # e39PR if you want to keep it secure. I also recommend our etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar # e38FV for a really solid setup.

What are you typically hauling with your utility trailer?

Mostly hauling lumber and landscaping supplies with the utility trailer. Does the InstaLatch need to be removed every time I switch to my bike rack, or can I leave part of the mechanism in the receiver?

@Adam the entire InstaLatch comes out when you release it, so nothing stays in the receiver. That's what makes it nice when switching between towing and a bike rack. You can leave the # e38FV anti-rattle collar installed on the receiver too, so you won't have to remove it every time.
