Hi Rick!
The Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller # 3430001 actually mounts on the trailer, not your RAV4 Prime. With that said, you will be attaching the 12v power wire from the Autowbrake to either the battery or to the brown running light circuit, both on the trailer. I will say that connecting directly to the battery is the better way to do it though, at least in my opinion.
If/when using the running light circuit, you have to make sure the lights are in the ON position, not AUTO. These days, that can be hard to remember with how cars work, so I think running to the trailer's battery is best. That will you can keep your lights on the AUTO setting.
I will also say that if you don't have a junction box on your trailer, you will want to grab one (like the # e99009). It makes this whole process a lot easier.
What kind of trailer are you going to be towing?
