Can The etrailer eDream Deluxe RV Mattress e57FR be Folded On A Tilt-A-View Bed?

Question:

Is this mattress suitable for the asjustable base of the Tilt-A-Viewinch in the Thor Miramar 2023 model 34.7? Where the mattress is bent during travel. Or where it is folded up during travel? It is folded not like a book but horizontally and not necessarily in half more like 1/3 to 2/3 visually. I dont have exact measurements on the fold but that is what it appears. It folds as the bed slide out comes in to get out of the way of the opposing slide. The one suggested by the website was the eDream 80. This will not fit in my Thor. It is too long. I need the short king version with adjustablility such as the aforementioned folding. My concern is the springs and the sides of the mattresss ability to withstand the folding. Especially over the long run with the heat and cold extremes a RV undergoes. Also does this mattress need or require an underlayment to prevent or reduce mositure damage? Such as often used in marine mattress applications. If it is, does etrailer carry the product?

Hey Anita, thanks for reaching out. I wouldn't recommend the eDream Deluxe Innerspring # e57FR for your Tilt-A-View setup. Since your bed has to fold every time you bring the slide in, an innerspring mattress is going to take a beating over time. The springs and edge support just aren't designed to be bent back and forth on a regular basis, so I'd expect it to wear out much sooner than it would on a fixed platform. A foam mattress is a much better choice for that type of application since it can flex repeatedly without damaging the internal construction.

As for moisture, the mattress doesn't require an underlayment, but if it's sitting on a solid platform with very little airflow, I'd definitely consider adding a ventilation mat underneath. It's cheap insurance against condensation and mildew, especially if you camp in humid areas or leave the RV closed up for long periods. Unfortunately, we don't currently have a folding short king mattress specifically designed for the Thor Tilt-A-View bed.
