Question:
Lots of expensive wiring kits out there...whats wrong with splicing into the trailer light wiring the old fashion way...2005 Honda accord 4 door...or can you recommend an inexpensive one that will do the job.

A trailer is commonly wired so that the power to illuminate the turn signals and the brake lights are carried on the same circuit. However, your Accord separates the turn signal and the brake lamp circuits. Tapping directly into the tail light wiring with a 4-pole like the # 18002 would either leave your trailer without turn signals or brake lights.
The converter (black box) that is installed inline on the # 118302 harness will combine the turn signal and brake lamp signals onto the same circuit so that it is compatible with the lighting system the trailer uses.
