Swivel Jack With Bigger Foot For Utility Trailer That Gets Used In Grass And Gravel

Published 05/14/2026

Question:

I park my 6x12 utility trailer in grass next to the garage, and my current jack foot always sinks unless I carry a block of wood. Is there a drill jack with a bigger foot or pad so I don’t have to mess with boards every time? I see

Yes Alan, for that, I’d go with the etrailer Sidewind Trailer Jack with SnapPad # e86AV. That one gives you the side-mount swivel jack plus the SnapPad already included, so you get a wider, grippier base right out of the box.

The jack itself is rated for 2,000 lbs with 14" of travel, and the foot is a removable 6" round foot plate. With the SnapPad installed, the base increases to about 7-3/4" diameter, which spreads the load out better and gives the jack more bite on uneven ground.

This side-mount swivel setup fits trailer frames that are 2" to 4" tall, so it is a good match for a lot of utility trailers like yours. You’ll still use the included 3/4" socket with a non-impact drill for faster lifting, and the jack still has the fold-away sidewind handle if your drill battery is dead. Since you mentioned parking in grass, # e86AV is the one I’d pick over # e35YV because you’re getting that bigger footprint from the start. How heavy is the trailer usually loaded when you park it?
