Will Using 3/8 to 1/4 inch Propane Fitting Reduce Flow Rating

Updated 12/09/2025 | Published 11/15/2025

Question:

I ordered two gas gear 90° propane hose type 1x1/4inch male inverted flare 18inch for my 2018 26RB Airstream in Oct and am now trying to install. Needless to say it looks like my airstream has a 3/8 npt. Everything i looked up showed 1/4. Can I just pick up an adapter or will the 1/4 restrict the flow too much. Looks like everything else fits but I wanted the gauge and the gauge would not fit without the 90° fitting. Appreciate your help.

Hey Don, you can definitely just use an adapter to get the correct fitting size and it will work just fine without restricting anything.

Hey Don, how did things go after you added the adapter for your Airstream’s propane setup? It’d be great to hear if the hose and gauge worked together the way you wanted. Your update could make it easier for others working on the same connection.

@JamesonC Picked up an adapter from the local Tractor Supply and it fits and works great. Just topped off the tanks because it is getting cold over night.
